TEXTURES kino internacional + inesfera

TEXTURES kino internacional + inesfera from INESFERA - Gari Artola on Vimeo.

Notes: Predatory video V2 : this is a slight remix of the originally uploaded video - it has an alternate intro section and some intentional jump cut edits.

PAWN

Pawn (born David Sandstrom) is both a member and producing artist of Los Angeles-based dubstep collective SMOG. Currently residing in San Francisco, (the only SMOG artist living outside the City of Angels), his dynamic California-style and charismatic productions place him in a wide range of electronic music genres. Surrounded by the colorful palette of The Golden State's endless musical influences, Sandstrom's productions venture through layers of glitch-hop and jungle, often energized by elements of crunk and painted with the guttural auras of dubstep.

CALCULON

Nik Calculon, is a California native, however the last few years have seen this dj perform farther and farther away from home, and 2013 will see Calculon playing new venues across America, Europe, and beyond. His label Rubik Records continues to go from strength to strength, and several vinyl releases are lined up starting from the beginning of the year onward.

CHRISTINA TAMAYO

Emerging from Chicago's southside comes Christina Tamayo, an airy songstress focusing on deep and thought-provoking melodies and lyrics. Raised on the R&B hits and prominent sounds of Chicago house in the 90s, she later found her niche in the soulful realms of electronic music. Throughout her career, she has jumped at opportunities to expand her vocal ability and style. She is never one to shy away from new realms and genres, from the more soulful to the minimal, gritty and beyond. With every collaboration, her palate and appreciation for music expands, gaining knowledge of the greats before and those to come.

ROBIN OLIVE

Robin Olive is a trained dancer for over 30 years and has been teaching and doing choreogrpahy for over 15 years. She also adds Martials arts techniques and stunts into her choreography. As well as fire dancing, flagging, poi, breakdancing and more. She was raised in North Carolina and continued her education throughout the Southeast. She now resides in Los Angeles.

VICTOR ACEVEDO

Acevedo brings to his current roles as Music Video director / editor and live visualist (VJ) over 30 years of experience in the visual arts. Moreover he is a desktop computer art pioneer, having worked with digital media since 1983.

California native, Acevedo's interest in underground and cutting edge EDM, began with his introduction to Drum and Bass in New York City early 1995. Returning to Los Angeles in 2009 he soon immersed himself in the local electronic BASS music scene.

After developing and honing his visual style in studio productions he has recently branched out to playing VJ gigs doing live visuals. He's brought his brand of abstract geometrical, audio synch cymatics tinged with figuration to I LOVE LA, Future Bound Radio's BACK2BASICS and most recently TIMELESS Drum and Bass.

VICTOR ACEVEDO @ NYIT 8 April 2010

VICTOR ACEVEDO @ NYIT 8 April 2010 from Victor Acevedo on Vimeo.

Victor Acevedo was the guest speaker for Robert Michael Smith's class called Contemporary Art in Context at the NEW YORK INSTITUTE of TECHNOLOGY (NYIT) Manhattan Campus on 8 April 2010.

The presentation was called PATTERN, FIELD, MATRIX, VISUAL MUSIC. In this 47-minute clip edited down from his 1.7 hour presentation and Q&A session, Acevedo surveys his 35+ year career in the visual arts. Starting from his student phase in 1977 and early professional practice. He discusses some of his early influences (PIcasso, M.C. Escher, Salvador Dali, & Buckminster Fuller) and the genesis of his signature space-frame & polyhedral graphical metaphor -- a kind of geometrical Surrealism.

1977 to 1984 Introduction / Influences / Traditional Media (painting and drawing)
1983 to 2006 Computer Art / Digital Prints ( 23.29 video timeline)
2007 to Present: Motion Graphics / Visual Music ( 40.48 video timeline)

Victor Acevedo is an artist and desktop computer art pioneer, best known for his digital work involving printmaking, imaging and video. He attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena (1979-81). He lived in New York City from 1995 to 2009 where he taught at the School of Visual Arts, MFA Computer Art program. He is now based in Los Angeles, California.

Acevedo brings to his current roles as music video director / video editor, motion graphics artist and LIVE visualist (VJ) over 35 years of experience in the visual arts. Following a natural evolution, his work has moved from traditional media to digital and later from still-imagery to motion graphics. Considering the implications of Synesthesia and given his avid interest in contemporary Electronic Beat music as well as Digital Cinema and Synergetic Geometry, Acevedo has positioned himself inside the genre called VISUAL MUSIC. His music video productions are informed by a synthesis of these traditions, disciplines, phenomenologies.

Victor's interest in Electronic Beat music, began with his introduction to Drum and Bass in NYC early 1995. Returning to Los Angeles in 2009 he soon immersed himself into the local electronic underground. As a result, his most recent visual music works have integrated dance forms like Drum n Bass and Dubstep as spun at club nights such as RESPECT and SMOG as well as the more experimental forms of abstract, instrumental hip-hop, like the full-throttle immersive BASS heavy music that can be found at the community's epicenter, LOW END THEORY.

Acevedo's digital fine art work has been featured in several books including: "Moving Innovation: A History of Computer Animation". (Tom Sito, MIT Press 2013) "Digital Art" (Wolf Lieser, Ullman /Tandem 2009) ; "From Technological to Virtual Art" ( Frank Popper, MIT Press 2007) ; "Art of the Digital Age" (Bruce Wands,Thames and Hudson, 2006) ; "Escher's Legacy: A Centennial Celebration," (edited by Doris Schattschneider and Michelle Emmer, Springer Verlag 2002.)

Acevedo has shown his work in over 85 exhibitions worldwide including The Waterman Gallery at RISD, 2007 & 2011; SYNAPSE at Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA) July 2005, The Isamu Noguchi Museum: Synergetics in the Arts 2005; The Siggraph/TAS, Paris, 2005; Novosibirsk State Art Museum; 2005; Digital Art Museum, Berlin 2004; Millennium Art Museum, Bejing, China, 2004; ACM/Siggraph CG03; Siggraph/TAS, Cleveland Art Museum 2003; Digital Duality at EZTV/Cyberspace 2002; Levall Gallery, Novosibirsk, Russia, 2002; YLEM's 20th Anniversary Exhibition, SF, California, 2001; Colville Place Gallery, London, 2001; in ArcadeIII, touring the UK 2001- 02, Galerie der Gegenwart, Weisbaden, Germany, 2001; ACM/SIGGRAPH '98, Orlando FL.; M.C. The Flower and The Sword. Two contrasting themes that come together very well in this animation by vj.nanographica (Tsukasa Kishimoto). Tsukasa wanted to express these traditional Japanese themes in a contemporary style. It's a beautiful sequence, all created in After Effects using mettle's 3D plug-in FreeForm Pro. When Tsukasa showed us this animation, Nancy (mettle.com) asked if she could do the musical arrangement. She felt inspired by his mystical style. She was honoured that Tsukasa agreed.

Ed Bear and Matt Tennie: Technical Directors, live robotics and sound control

Musicians, a VJ, and stage-controlled robotic screens combine to present a contemporary ghost story – a poetic musing on managing the mass of  information ”noise”. The audience is drawn into a world in which video characters come to life: the wave of a hand moves a video body, and video characters lip synch live to a singer. The players onstage collectively perform the movie, which spills off the dynamic, dimensional screens onto the stage. The result is like a complex three-dimensional, automated video pop-up book, and as characters are brought to life through motion, voice, and robotics, the boundaries of the real and virtual are blurred.

Mojuze (0.8) - Realtime, Live-3D VJ Software

Mojuze is a realtime, live-3D VJ software which aims to give vibrant broadcast-quality motion graphics on Android, iOS, PC, Mac and Linux. Download for PC*: http://mojuze.com/mojuze.zip (50mb) Download For Android*: https://play.google.com/store/apps/de... Follow me on Facebook: https://facebook.com/mojuze *Disclaimer: Beta software, no warranties offered or implied, use at your own risk. Mojuze is a realtime, live-3D VJ software which aims to give vibrant broadcast-quality motion graphics on Android, iOS, PC, Mac and Linux. What if you no longer need large, potentially laggy video files and could ~directly~ use 3D assets in your VJ software at 1080p? What if you could walk up, plug in your laptop, Android or iOS device, and instantly see it on the big screen, including DJ/promoter logos, touch-manipulation, and visualisation according to ~live~ music input? Also, social, cloud, hipster stuff. Was a new DJ just added to the lineup and the promoter is demanding a new rotating DJ Logo 5 minutes before he/she comes on? Now you no longer have to give him/her the middle finger. Dynamic 3D text logos and more are planned. Mojuze is virtually resolution-independent to display up to Retina and 2K+ graphics. The target audience are lighting professionals and Video DJs. I'm starting small but there are much larger plans for the line of Mojuze products. This uses Unity3D Engine and you can use the Nvidia/ATI Control Panel to MAX out all your settings when running the EXE. Additional info, a planned competition and free version of the app is coming soon. Thank you for your time. Performance tested at https://www.facebook.com/electrifiedp... and with DJs JT, Josh Cube, Cronin and more. Battle ready. Made in the Trance Republic Of Australia. Dates: 26-27 June 2014
Location: Porto, Portugal

The development of computational tools and media has been radically transforming the landscape for the practice of the arts, of design and of numerous cultural manifestations. xCoAx is a forum for the exideas and the discovery of new and valuable synergies. It is an event exploring the frontiers of digital arts with the participation of a diverse confluence of computer scientists, media practitioners and theoreticians, with a focus on the relations between what can and cannot be computed, what can and cannot be communicated, what is beautiful and how humans and computational systems intersect in the development of new directions in aesthetics.

The first edition of xCoAx happened in 2013 in Bergamo, Italy. The 37 works presented — selected from a total of 114 submissions from 28 countries — are compiled in the proceedings book, available at 2013.xcoax.org.
