After Light - documentaion
After Light - documentaion from Storybox on Vimeo.
After Light is a new work by Storybox that explores the significance and symbolism of light across pan-Pacific Asian cultures. Created for the Marina Bay iLight festival Singapore 2012. Material shot in Singapore and New Zealand weaves together several stories of light incorporating a range of cultures from across the region. Final work is played on 14 screens across 27 shipping containers.
"The sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.” - Carl Jung
From creation myths to flashing neon tubes, the role of light can be conceived as a symbol of progress or an ancient way of communicating with the spirit world. In this new work Storybox explores how light continues to inspire and influence people in our modern world.
