Video Mapping with Telenoika
June 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 | 15:00 – 18:00 | Classroom 2
[€ 150 ] REGISTER !!Only 3 places left!!
Four days to learn everything related to Video Mapping techniques, from the project idea to the final realization.
Technical study, optical, video projectors, lux, blueprint, 2d, 3d, music and sound effects
Taught by VJ Eletroiman, member of the Telenoika Community.
After a painstaking measurement process, we construct detailed 2D and 3D models of the target surface. We then generate the audio and video content, using these models to “map” the content onto the finest details of the specific site. This allows us to visually alter the appearance of the architecture – by controlling light, colour and surface volume – to change its very nature and transform the way it’s perceived.

Resolume Arena 6
June 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 | 18:00 – 21:00 | Classroom 2
[€ 150 ] REGISTER
The Resolume Arena 6 workshop introduces to the participants the use of the new released version of the Resolume Arena Media Server software, the most used tool for managing audio visual content at performances, stages, interactive installations. Starting with a basic interface explanation, you will progressively get to learn all the features of the software and get professional suggestions to use Resolume Arena 6 at its best. You will also get a deep review of all the new features that this new version brings with. During the workshop you will be asked to practice and try by yourself what you are learning. The next step of the class will be focused on the Advance Output including the video mapping and LED mapping techniques using Resolume Arena 6. At the end of the workshop, the participants will be also encouraged to experiment a video mapping on an “object” of their choice. Participants will be required to bring their own laptop, computer cables for connecting the projector and pc/laptop, and possibly their own projector (if they have one). They may also bring any hardware controller. To bring their own video footage for projection is not required, but welcome.

Live Coding with Max&Ableton
June 7 - 8 | 15:00 – 18:00 | Classroom 3
[€ 80 ] REGISTER
The worksop will be focusing on various techniques inside Max, Max for Live and Live that represent the basis of my audiovisual compositional practice and can be easily extended to performance. These techniques are anchored around a conceptual node that could be called “in-betweenness” – being in-between very opposite compositional practices such as indeterminacy, randomness or probabilities on one hand and planning, total control or repetition on the other. In other words I am influenced by techniques that span from very experimental to very genre based and I will share with you how I bridge that gap using Max, Max for Live and Live. During the workshop we will create few simplified sequences from the LPM 2018 promo video.

Processing: Beginner’s guide to creative coding
June 9 - 10 | 15:00 - 17:00 | Classroom 3
[€ 60 Max 15 attendees ] REGISTER
Processing is an open-source, free computer language which was designed to create visual output. Plus, it is a perfect language to learn how to program.
This workshop introduces the basic concepts of coding, to afterwards focus on the creative possibilities of processing. After this workshop, each participant knows the fundamental principles of coding in processing, and has created an own small sketch.
No previous knowledge in programming is required. Participants should bring their own laptop with processing downloaded and unzipped (https://processing.org/download )

Isadora Workshop
June 7 - 8 | 18:00 - 21:00 | Classroom 3
[€ 80 ] REGISTER
Isadora’s creator and pioneering media artist Mark Coniglio will offer a two-day introductory workshop to Isadora – a software tool expressly designed to be used by artists that offers real-time interactive control of video in a way that goes beyond standard VJ software. During the first day, Coniglio will quickly cover the basics of importing, playing and layering media and show how to use the integrated projection mapping tool. The second day will be spent showing how to take interactive control of your media using MIDI devices and other sensors. Participants will all receive a free three-month license for the full version of Isadora so that they can continue to experiment with the program after the workshop ends.
Participants will need to bring a personal computer (Mac or PC). If you have a MIDI device like a Launchpad or Nanokontrol, please bring it along and so we can show you how to use it for real-time control.

Arduino for visual artists
June 9 - 10 | 17:00 - 21:00 | Classroom 3
[€ 120] REGISTER
In this intensive workshop Michal Mitro will introduce visual artists to the world of interactivity. Together you will (briefly) look at the history of interactive art and use of interactivity in visual and time-based arts followed by an exploration of several strategies on how to approach interactivity from both a conceptual and technological perspective. Participants will be guided through a hands-on project that directly demonstrates and teaches how simple interactive elements can be embedded into an artwork to create a meaningful piece.
Following on, participating artists will be introduced to the basics of simple analog electronics in order to directly utilise them in the project. All parts of the circuit will be connected together (no soldering required), to Arduino, and to LEDs embeded in grown borax crystals at which point ultrasonic proximity sensors will be introduced to create an interactive environment.

Stage LED Design
June 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 | 15:00 - 18:00 | Classroom 4
[
€ 150 Max 20 attendees ] REGISTER
The workshop aims to teach the foundations related to the world of LED and related applications in the visual and artistic fields.
After a first introductory part and a theory of light, we will touch the world of LEDs, starting from the stripled up to professional led bars and parled. Configuration and setting of the various components: ArtNet, Network Card, Midi.
Finally, the participants will be divided into groups, each of which will have to deal with designing and creating a sculpture of light, composed of led bars and parlded. The final part of the workshop will be the various performances of the groups.

Openframeworks: working with faces
June 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 | 18:00 - 21:00 | Classroom 4
[
€ 150] REGISTER
During the workshop the partecipants will get a panoramic on the creative coding platform Openframeworks (http://openframeworks.cc/), to illustrate it we will use as example the theme: "face tracking". The partecipants will see, and code, various practical example of various techniques to track faces in real time, and examples of use of the resulting data to remote control other applications, how to substitute single face feature or full faces using webcam or pre-recorded video, or how to modify single elements of a face. While we will code the face tracking examples we will traverse all the Openframeworks main features, like 2d graphics, real time 3d graphics, how to use add-ons, how to project an application, and all the other of the core functionality of the framework.

LPM Video Mapping for kids
June 9 - 10 | 16:00 - 19:00 | Studio 2 Lectures
FREE ENTRY

The videomapping workshop for children aged 5 years will be aimed at creating a visual project to be exhibited in the same day.
The imprint of the workshop will be very practical, and during the course the children will be invited to realize a real videomapping using the video projector with colored pencils and markers as well as computers and software to be able to reinterpret shapes and architectures with the light of the projector as only a child can make and paint colored shapes with which he can then experiment with the final project.

Accendi i LED della tua fantasia
June 9 - 10 | 16:00 - 19:00 | Galleria
FREE ENTRY
Age: 7 – 11 years
Thanks to the tool provided by Microsoft for development on the Micro:bit (https://makecode.microbit.org) card, the kids will learn the basic programming instructions with the ultimate aim of drawing shapes and developing image sequences on the led of the card itself.
With the images generated by the LEDs, they can create animated stories, giving space to their imagination.

See you in Rome!
