Un festival capace di declinare la potenza creativa della luce in mille diverse sfaccettature, di fare del fotone, il più piccolo e brillante frammento luminoso dell'universo, la particella originaria di uno scintillante universo creativo.
A festival able to transform the creative power of the light in thousand different aspects, to convert the photon, the smallest and brighest fragment in the universe, the original particle of a sparkling creative universe.
After the success of the first edition, FOTONICA ( from the 7th to the 15ft of December at MACRO Asilo ) comes back in Rome, a free festival that investigates the art connected with the light in a contemporanery context.
65 artists, 4 performances and 6 audiovideo installation, 3 lives sets AV. 7 lectures, 3 workshop (2 for the kids) and more than 40 international partner for a event that explore the audio visual and digital innovations. The foyer of theMACRO hosts the performances, the AV installations and the main events of the festival: national and international artists shape their art with installations and live performances, with a strong visual and sensorial impact, giving to the audience new, interactive and immersive experiences.
FOTONICA is part of Contemporaneamente Roma 2018 , promoted by Roma Capitale Assessorato alla Crescita culturale and Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali with the partnership of the Siae .
To help the networking in art studies, the festival even this year will renew and expand the networking through new partnership with the most important international events such as Zsolnay Light Festival (Hungary), Athens Digital Art Festival (Greece), Patchlab Festival (Polond) and Videomapping Mexico.
The festival will start the 7th of December at 10p.m. with the AV performance OVV by Glowing Bulbs , a collective born in the 1998, part of the underground artistic scene of Budapest.
The same day at 4 p.m. there will take place the lecture of Gabor Kitzinger of the Glowing Bulbs , who represents Zsolnay Light Festival 's activity and the Zsolnay Light Festival Fracture the installation realized for the Hungarian Academy that will be display the 13rd of December in Palazzo Falconieri (Via Giulia 1)
Saturday the 8th of December at 11 p.m. will take place Go Back to Hiding in the Shadows by Pandelis Diamantides , an AV performance developed form recording, rock formation, plants, animals and human voices collected in Cyprus. Friday the 14th of Dicember at 10 p.m. the performance Digilogue by the Studio Otaika will explore the conncection between audio and visual art in their sensorial connection. The work is shown in real time and transpose the visual and audio dissonance theory, highlighing their similarity. At 10 p.m. the russian artist Procedural, who works both in the elettronic music both in the visual field, will show Iterations
Every day the foyer of the museum will host all the other events of the festival, from the audio video to the light art installations, to the new frontiers of the Videomapping revealed from Anticorp and curated by the collective Videomapping Mexico.Touch Me by Iannis Kranidiotis and curated by Athens Digital Art Festival is a head in the darkness that invite you to get into the image projected. In Exquisitus speculum by Federico Ferrarini and Elektromoon ( curated by Patchlab Festival) you will interact with the Leonardo Da Vinci's Uomo Vitruviano diving youself in your armonic proportions. Manifesto delle Visioni Parallele performs Errore Digitale: Untold Wall , a video installation where 9 tv build a cathode-ray tube wall.
An important part of FOTONICA is dedicated to the lecture, in the cine room and in the Auditorium of the MACRO Asilo expert of the Athens Digital Art Festival, Patchlab Festival e RGB Light Experience will speak about the evolution and the changing of the tecnologies. Saturday the 8th of decembre at 7 p.m will take place the documentary “ HER She Loves San Lorenzo ” , the second edition of the Arts and San Lorenzo's data Festival. In this occasion will be shown the documentary “ Dolore: il limite dell ’ Intelligenza Artificiale ” an extraordinary reflection about the integration of AI in own society with the most important italian moral philosophy professor Aldo Masullo.
The 14th of dicember at 4 p.m there will be the meeting Cultura 2030: Arti digitali, in which technical worker with the President of the Commissione Cultura alla Camera Luigi Gallo will talk about the study “Cultura 2030” an investigation about the possible evolution of Italian culture from here to the 2030.
The 7th and the 14th of December there will be two Workshops about Videomapping , realized with the help of Fusolab 2.0. born with the goal to involve the interests of the public and give them some practical tools.
Even this year the youngest audience will be part of the Festival: to give creative incentive and tools from young age will help the digital culture diffusion. The labs are realized with the cooperation of Kidsbit Festival (Italy) e Athens Digital Art Festival (Greece): the animation Animating your star lab (the 8th and the 9th of December at 4 p.m) gives to the kids the opportunity to create their first animation; Dalla luce alla proiezione by Luca Cataldo ( Saturday the 15th at 4 p.m ) is a lab that will help the kids to discover how to project an image with shadows, table, tablet and projector.
“Net Paintings”, in collaboration with Shockart.net, is a selection of digital painting that shows to the public that NetArt, l'arte del software are not just algorithm but art works, made by pixel, HTML language and IP address.
The electronic music live set and VJ set are organized with LPM Live Performers Meeting and Manifesto delle Visioni Parallele . The first friday the festival host at 11 p.m Alterazioni Glitch of nnrflw + Micheal Jauntai , followed by AV live set NO balsamic by Vinegar Orchestra. The last night of the festival, Saturday the 15 ft at 11 p.m Giulio Maresca , Fabio Sestili and Valentina Pentesilea will performe with the showcase Ipologica ,their new musical project will be followed by the Liz vjset.
FOTONICA is organized by Flyer srl that in the 2004 organized LPM Live Performers Meeting the biggest event in the Digital world, now at his 18th edition, aswell thanks to the help of the Europena Comunity in Xalapa, Minsk, Citt à del Messico, Cape Town, Eindhoven e Amsterdam. From the bigining LPM hosts more than 4600 artists, 2625 performances, workshops and showcases, with more than 1.500.000 visitors. FOTONICA is part of the AVnode, international network with more than 60 artists promoting more tha 200 project, festival, meeting and workshops.
