PORTALS

Portals is a projection mapping project made in collaboration with Brooke Fazakerly. We created different wire frame "portals" using a VR painting software called Tilt Brush, then recorded footage as the user moves through each portal. We then compiled our footage into After Effects, added effects and alterations, and finally used MadMapper to project our piece onto four different screens, playing simultaneously. The result is a myriad of constantly shifting portals that change from geometric to organic forms continuously. The motion of the footage itself, recorded using a handheld camera in virtual reality, causes the viewer to feel as if they are actually travelling through the portal due to the tiny intricacies of human error that come with handheld recordings.
