Electro-Second Organ_A/V + E < Human-like non-human – HAOS human cognition liberation project Ver2.0 > from Aisthesis Savage / cjmjo on Vimeo.

A/V+E(Audio Reactive Visual + Electrotactile) showcases the art performance experience through the Electro-second Organ. Electro-second Organ is an interactive wearble device which provide a 256-channel programmable pulse generator that delivers dc- voltage pulses for art performance. The artist has created a series of art installations and performances to serve as rituals that activate superhuman electrical sensing. Electro-second organ has different 3D printing appearances. In past performances, we have continued to develop different wearable devices to experience the concept of "second organ".

Is it possible for any audience member to experience a human cognitive augmented art performance?
This innovation provides the world's first A/V+E (Audio Reactive Visual + Electrotactile)
A new type of artistic performance experience which easily cooperate with any DJ or VJ.
Each audience member can have their own Electro-Pad (electrotactile PCB). It is possible to take the Electro-Pad away after the performance or experience, and it can be plugged in and out at any time. Electro-Pads can also be used as tickets. In Taiwan 2023, it is expected to experiment with sales in Immersive Theatre for a party.

“Does a human have to be human?”
The project “human-like non-human – HAOS human cognition liberation project” combines the fields of human-machine interaction, electrical engineering, industrial and material design, visual performance arts, and neuroscience, to attempt using electrical perception sensing in the oral region as an addition to the Eight Consciousness defined by Buddhist disciplines (sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, etc.) and expanding beyond the biological identity of a human. It views the refinement of human cognition as a form of art, sculpting the way the audience perceives the brain with the art of electrical perception sensing.

This piece will explore the world of electrical perception sensory art not only questioning if “a human has to be human?” (against the destiny in which human and machine is integrated), but also investigate the structure between organ, cognition, aesthetics, and culture. Using the device developed by Lai Jiun Ting, “compound sensory substitution technology” integrates the human audience and AI through an actuator, activating “tongue vision”, touch, and another non-conventional compound sensory experience using “human sensory enhancer HAOS”, connecting to the world, and sculpting the way the audience perceives electrical perception sensing. By combining the sensing of the tongue, this implant shows a close connection between AI and humans.

This exhibition invites the audience to become cyborgs (non-invasive, non-implant) by training in steps and enhancing cognition, transcending biological boundaries to the level of superhuman. In Eastern philosophy, expanding the human consciousness is the path to “exceed human”, in contrast to the western “cyborg” view, showing that humans don’t have to be human.
