Mapping _ Digital Shifts

For its 13th edition, the Mapping Festival in Geneva (CH) changes format and unfolds over 18 days, from May 11 to 28, 2017, under the heading Mapping _ Digital Shifts.
In order to highlight this year’s many new features, the festival splits its activities into three distinct strands:
Mapping EXPO, May 11 to 28 - DISNOVATION.ORG
Mapping LAB, May 18 to 28 - workshops, conferences, masterclasses
Mapping LIVE, May 24 to 28 - A/V performances, club

The program will be gradually disclosed; stay tuned!

Mapping is glad to once more partner with CineGlobe, the International Film Festival at CERN, which celebrates this year its tenth anniversary and seventh edition from March 21 to 26.

For the occasion, THIRD RAW, an audiovisual performance by composer Roly Porter and video artist Marcel Weber, aka MFO, will be presented on Thursday, 23 March.

A musician based in Bristol, Roly Porter, former member of duo Vex’d, has released experimental music albums on labels Subtext and TriAngle. He has worked several times with Cynthia Millar, famous player of Ondes Martenot, one of the first electronic music instruments. MFO is a visual artist based in Berlin, who has distinguished himself through his collaborations with Tim Hecker, Biosphere and Ben Frost, among others.

Both are familiar with the world of cinema: in 2013, Roly Porter contributed to the soundtrack of the independent horror movie IN FEAR, and wrote a reinterpretation of the well-known animated movie by René Laloux GANDAHAR. Marcel Weber worked with film score composer Jed Kurzel (MACBETH, ASSASSIN’S CREED) on Snowtown: Live, an audiovisual performance premiered at Unsound Festival in Adelaide.

From 8th to 12th March, the Mirage Festival investigates the links between art and technologies in Lyon (France). The event brings together French artists (Adrien M & Claire B, LAB212, etc.) and international guests (patten, Croatian Amor, Xosar, Tarik Barri, etc.) in a broad program of performances and exhibitions. The festival also provides a place to exchange on the issues raised by this contemporary creation through the Mirage Open Creative Forum. The program offers a selection of workshops, conferences, or panels and gathers professionals in order to make people debate the position of technology in the fields of art and culture.
