This content began it's journey way back in 2019, our regular mainstage residency at Boomtown Fair had undergone another evolution and emerged as a post-apocalyptic, green-energy power plant known simply as 'The Grid'. To celebrate, we've decided to make some of the core VJ Loops available to the wider world.
This first collection of loops focusses on full-frame looks that will work perfectly on their own, but have been balanced to allow plenty of additional FX and layering without losing all sense of reality (accidentally at least). The stage itself contains many cutaways revealing the truss and scaffold infrastructure, our boss-man Lighting Designer, Doug, has brought this depth to life with layered lighting effects that inspired us to design this content.
All clips are rendered at 60fps, and with a choice of 4K or HD resolution. Most loops are 16 seconds long, a couple are 8 seconds and all are designed to sync neatly with any 4/4 based dance tracks, or whatever you can imagine!

(Before this, we were 'The Leisure Centre', and then 'Robotika'). Since then, well you know full-well what's happened since then, but we're back! To celebrate, and because we're really proud of what's being developled for the stage, we've decided to make some of the core VJ Loops available to the wider world. LASERGRID 0.1 introduces a series of minipacks that will collectively form, a megapack! This collection of loops focusses on full-frame looks that can work perfectly well on their own, but have been balanced to allow plenty of FX and layering without loosing everything altogether. All clips are rendered at 60 fps, and with a choice of 4K or HD resolution, most loops are 16 seconds long, some are 8, all are designed to fit neatly into any 4/4 based dance tracks, or whatever you can imagine!

This video is a collaboration between Onrust, Tantric techno for the restless
and visual artist Geert Lenssens.
The music recording is from a live set they did in Ghent on October 11, 2020 at Ambient & Tea. The visuals are a homerecording by Geert, in February 2022, with the same set of video loops he used for the live event. This is one continous recording: no editing was done to the visuals, except the end credits.
All visuals are original content by Geert Lenssens and they all started as a photograph. Geert loves taking a hike in the region he lives in and almost always takes his camera with him. So all video loops are photo animations, made with Fusion (in Davinci Resolve). The VJ set is done with Resolume Avenue 6.
With almost 39 minutes, you'd better grab a drink, put it on your tv, sit back and relax to enjoy this audiovisual trip :)

In collaboration with DCL Boston, I was commissioned to program a custom Touch Designer audio-reactive lighting system with a touch screen controller for the Hard Rock Guitar Hotel building facade to light up in different patterns to the music in real-time.
It was a fairly substantial undertaking, involving an interesting combination of R&D in finding aesthetics that worked well on the unique building design, as well as Audio Reactivity methods that could work well with any type of music that would be played, ranging from Rock to R&B, Pop, Raggae and modern Electronic Dance music, among other genres.
The system communicates with Isaac scheduler to allow switching and playback of the preset banks of looks created by the marketing team, as well as a live performance by a VJ or DJ triggering different looks and adjusting settings in real-time with a specialized touch screen hardware system.
