" (futuremusic.com) Prague, hosted the world premiere of the, wait for it, wait for it, OK…Brain Orchestra. The Multimodal Brain Orchestra, led by both a traditional and an “emotional conductor”, preformed music and VJ’d using the “band’s” brain waves and heart rate.
Four members of the “orchestra” are equipped with special WWII Fighter Plane helmets with electrodes that take a real-time “photo” of the brain’s electrical activity, called an electroencephalograph. The graphs of those brain waves are projected onto one of two large screens above the orchestra. The performers launch sounds or affect their frequencies and modulations based on two well-characterised effects seen in EEGs: the steady-state visually evoked potential (SSVEP), and the so-called P300 signal. Two other members view a mini TV, with flashing rows and columns of letters, and told to look for a particular letter, which is then translated into sound. "

Space Invaders hitted by foam balls, pixel paintings created with brushes and digital objects holded by hands try to blur boundaries between real and digital.

Ki gondolta volna, hogy a hagyományos lemezjátszóval is lehet vizuálokat készíteni? Például az angol Reuben Sutherland. A filmből kiderűl, hogyan csinálja és mit csinál.

exiledsurfer - a 3L egyik alkotója és arca -, sorra teszi közzé oktató jellegű filmjeit a programról magyarázataival fűszerezve. Íme a legújabb:

This clip is variations on the same theme. Essentially what is happening here is that the quicktime movie of the fish in the background is being used as the displacement map for the DISTORTION MODULE on a plane being drawn in different modes.. as points, as linestrip, as quads, and as polygons. The quicktime is also mapped on to the plane as a texture. Compose fx are used on the scene output, and the color difference you see between the 3L object and the background is due to the transfer mode, as well as the alpha choices for the object.
What is important to note here is that the DISTORTION SLIDE parameter is set to 30% in order to slow down the motion of the displacement map. This results in the "flowing" motion of the displacement of the plane as the fish are moving. So what you are seeing here is not a 2d core image fx, but instead displacement and texturing being applied to a 3d object which is a plane, and that plane is poistioned above the background quicktime. So the displacement effect follows the motion of the fish.
Audio Track is "Mute As a Fish" from the austrian electronic artist Lichtenberg. These clips were created and rendered in reatime using the built in dvr in thrill.artificialeyes.tv at 320x240 pixels in the motion jpeg a codec at lossless settings. The uploaded clip is an mp4. "

" This example is comprised of clips produced using the built-in dvr in 3L at 320x240 pixels in the motion jpeg a codec. They are just slammed together back to back with a track from Ambient Amazon, and demonstrates how to use 3d space to achieve motion and perspective that appears to be 2d, utilizing jpegs of bamboo, and ferns.
The clip illustrates a few methods:
Mapping a jpeg on to a cylinder and rotating it so that you can see through both surfaces, giving the unfocused foreground and in focus "warped" background effect.The second method is moving the position of a jpeg on a sphere along one of its axis before it is mapped to the object, and rotating the sphere so that the point of origin makes it look as if the image is dissappearing down a funnel. (This is NOT a distortion fx applied to the Scene Output.
Also demonstrated is using a movie texture to supply the deformation map to a surface of an object to create rippling fx. In this example, the background (yellow/red color) is used BOTH as a composed background texture behind the fern leaves, which are mapped on to a sphere, AND as the moving map to determine the distortion values of the sphere/fern.there are other additional simple motion rules used, as well as some fx on the final outputs to tweak the colors and provide additional depth and shadowing. "

AirPiano: gesztusokkal vezérelhető, érintésmentes kontroller
Az Omer Yosha által alkotott interfész igázán elegáns. Infravörös szenzorok érzékelik a kéz mozgását egy többszintű láthatatlan mátrix hálóban. Ez egyenlőre a prototípus, de többen érdeklődnek utána. A készítő minden segítséget elfogad. Bővebben itt.
Az első videón Ableton Live-ot vezérel, a másodikon hangszerként funkcionál, de nem kell hozzá nagy képzelőerő, hogy elképzeljük VJ kontrollerként is.
