No cair da noite da sexta-feira 14 de dezembro, o artista Leandro Mendes - VJ Vigas apresentou o espetáculo "Estereóptico" na Cidadela Cultural, uma performance audiovisual estereoscópica com projeções 3D gigantescas usando a fachada de um prédio como tela de projeção. A apresentação usou a técnica da estereoscopia, ou seja, os vídeos foram especialmente preparados para serem visualizados com o uso de óculos especiais, criando um efeito incrível. O projeto foi aprovado pelo Simdec 2012 e contou com a participação especial dos artistas Vinicius Luz (Brasil) e Andres Alvarez (Argentina) na produção do conteúdo visual.

Una verdadera fiesta se vivió en Cartagena de Indias el viernes 5 de Octubre de 2012 con la macro-proyección de 50 metros que preparamos en PANORAMIKA de la mano técnica de BigVideo, Sergio Iván Castaño de Uyuyui y dirección de Felipe Dothee; para la fiesta de cierre del Congreso Colombiano de Comunicaciones Publicitarias 2012 organizado por Caracol Televisión.

También en 2010 realizamos otro mapping para Caracol Televisión frente a un costado de la Catedral de Cartagena se dió por concluido el evento que durante tres días tuvo en pie a los más de 1300 publicistas asistentes al congreso, razón por la cual, para esta edición se tomó la decisión de realizar el evento en el Hotel Las Américas y no en el Hilton, donde se había hecho en años anteriores. The Puri Lukisan Museum ("Palace of Paintings") is the oldest art museum in Ubud. It is home to the finest collection of modern traditional Balinese painting and wood carving on the island. Live performances are an important part of Bali's culture - maybe that's why the people running the museum immediately understood the ideas behind Tagtool, and helped us set up a session at night. During several hours we painted the Museum's ornate gate, while a crowd of curious locals and tourists gathered to watch.

This is my first experiment to explore how music and image can be experienced through spatial interaction.

NB. the audio and video are just the free samples from Resolume 4, i had nothing to do with making them. This is just a proof of concept and I hope to create/add my own music and visuals soon.

This is the first working attempt to use Processing to code a relationship between data from an Xbox Kinect motion sensor and the VJ software Resolume.

The program/sketch analyses the position of the hand in 3d space and sends this reparameterised information via OSC to control the volume and opacity of the 3 video and audio channels inside Resolume. The bounds of the interactive parameter space are adaptive, the user essentially pushes the extremes of the 'imaginary' box to define the size of space they are using.

There is also no intuitive or cognitive connection between the interaction and the outcome, the system relies on either experimentation or introduction. The conversation between technologies and the potential of Processing in general show how this set of tools could be used to develop much more complex and much more interesting interesting experiences/interactions.

With a very loose brief supplied by Drive Productions - this content was produced at 4.2K to be projected onto a 30m screen during an aerial performance for the 2012 SU2C Fundraiser.
The focal point was the centre of the screen where two aerial artists performed.

This job had a very tight budget and a short turnaround (6 days).
Joel Geddes and I shot the source material on Canon 7Ds using macro lenses, inks and food colouring.
Joel shot all of the circular petri-dish footage and did some excellent research into ferro fluids. Unfortunately we ran out of time so didn't include the Ferro footage.

I then did the post and compositing at my studio using Premiere and After Effects.

Présentée initialement à l’InfoComm 2012, la Fontaine de contenu est le fruit du travail d’exploration numérique effectué par notre équipe de R&D.

Il s’agit d’une structure conceptuelle mettant en vedette quelques-unes des meilleures technologies d’affichage disponibles sur le marché, incluant notamment les Christie MicroTiles, des écrans ACL, des panneaux DEL et des projecteurs Christie utilisés pour de la projection sur une surface 3D. Des accessoires interactifs complètent l’expérience, dont une application iPad pour diriger la performance et une caméra à capteurs pour créer des effets visuels en temps réel.

L’installation sera animée en direct par une équipe de créateurs de contenu et VJ d’Arsenal média. Le concept de la Fontaine vise à rendre hommage à l’innovation en production et création multimédia.

A Detailed Explanation for Those Interested:
Audio clips were chopped and edited in Ableton live running on a macbook pro which was triggered by the APC 20. Effects were applied to the audio and video via the Microsoft Strategic Commander and Akai Mini MPK which were first routed through a Max Patch before entering Ableton Live. The control signals from these two controllers were also routed as OSC data to a custom built desktop running Arkaos Grand VJ. The video clips were extracted from YouTube and Vimeo sources as well as from the movie Serenity and the animes Freedom and Gundam UC. They were chopped into smaller clips using Adobe Premiere and then exported with Adobe Media Encoder. The clips were triggered via Network Midi from clips in the Ableton Live set. The video output of the desktop computer was sent to a DVI to HD-SDI scaler and then to a Sony 4k projector running in HD mode. The HD-SDI signal was also sent to a 4 channel video mixer. The mixer also had inputs from 3 HD Sony PTZ cameras. These sources were live switched and recorded through a Blackmagic H.264 pro recorder. The Ableton Live performance was recorded and later synced with the video to ensure quality.
TL;DR - An Integrated Audio-Visual Performance that was recorded live in one go.

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - Sinais do fim dos tempos estão por todos os lados. Então, antes do mundo acabar, resolvemos reunir um pouco de tudo em um dia só. Vamos celebrar a pluralidade de expressões com artes visuais, música, poesia, videomapping e performances audiovisuais.

A 6ª edição do Video Ataq aterrisa novamente no Solar de Botafogo, no dia 19 de dezembro, com um evento que traz em uma onda experimental formando uma múltipla salada cultural num clima de festa entre amigos e parceiros.

Seguindo a proposta de promover o conhecimento nas artes visuais, o evento vai oferecer um workshop de videomapping avançado nos dias 17, 18 e 19 com o conceituado VJ Spetto (United VJs), que atua nos principais festivais de cultura digital do Brasil e no exterior e apresentou recentemente suas criações no videomapping do SP_Urban Digital Festival. O curso irá abordar as características e aplicações dessa técnica contemporânea da arte digital.

E se o mundo não acabar, nos aguarde que ano que vem tem mais!

Edições anteriores:

O evento teve outras cinco edições anteriores e por isso já consquistou um public fiel. Em 2009 e 2010, participou do Viradão Carioca, no Parque das Ruínas, em Santa Teresa. Em 2010, também foi contemplado pelo edital Conexões Artes Visuais Funarte/Petrobras, realizando um festival de 3 dias também no Parque das Ruínas, com a presença de grandes nomes da cena Vjing nacional e internacional. A quarta edição ocorreu em 2011, no Solar de Botafogo, com a apresentação do coletivo francês 1024 Architecture no espetáculo Euphorie. Em 2012, a quinta edição trouxe a tona a verão itinerante com o Video Ataq bike, na Praça Seca, recebendo o patrocínio da Secretaria Municipal de Cultura. A bordo do projeciclo, vjs projetaram pelas ruas do bairro, levantando a bandeira da mobilidade e da sustentabilidade. “Minute, mobile, and light” is a work that draws inspiration from the literary images evoked by Italo Calvino in “Lightness” and from the artistic experience of Philippe Petit, “funambulist and poet of life”.

It investigates the opposition lightness/weight starting out from an interior dimension and from a way of feeling. Its research is oriented towards the expressive language of a body without weight, free in thought and action.

Within this perspective, Gabriella Cerritelli experiments with a dance guided by a movement both light and precise, which adapts with sensitivity to a context in continuous transformation.
The figure of the funambulist is adopted as an emblematic image: tenacious, determined, and driven by a great interior force, the funambulist moves without leaving a trace suspended in the void. Funambulism is a subtle art, ephemeral and ineffable, like the art of living.

“Lightness for me is associated with precision and determination, not with vagueness or leaving to chance. Paul Valéry said: “One must be light like a bird, not like a feather”. Italo Calvino.

The first study presented July 19, 2011 in Turin for “La Piattaforma” at the Festival “Teatro a Corte” was centered on the opposition lightness/weight and has the collaboration of the trapeze artist Justine Bernachon.

The second study is the outcome of an experimental research in collaboration with IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Turin, where Gabriella Cerritelli performs through the space focusing on the visual perception and interplays with VJ Nadia Zanellato's live visuals.

The initial reference image is that of Perseo (“The only hero able to cut off Medusa’s head is Perseus, who flies with winged sandals; Perseus, who does not turn his gaze upon the face of the Gorgon but only upon her image reflected in his bronze shield.”) with such a gentle and strong soul that allows to explore a territory made of “impalpable entities that move between sensitive soul and intellective soul, between heart and mind, between eyes and voice.”
