This video consists of highlights from a VJ performance I did for a Gala event at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle.
The visuals are generated in realtime using custom made software. During the performance, I manipulate the parameters of the algorithms in an improvisational way using a MIDI controller. The result is sometimes orderly, sometimes chaotic—I don't know exactly how the visuals will respond. Things get messy when experimenting live like this, but occasionally I stumble across a cool combination of parameters.

AV Audience Development Meeting 2017
On 20th and 21st April 2017, 22 audio-visual cultural managers from all over Europe involved in the AVnode LPM 2015 > 2018 project will participate to AV Audience Development Meeting 2017, a two day event in Brussels organised by Culture Action Europe. The focus will be on the topic of Audience Development. This theme we see highly relevant as the audio-visual-performances are still a niche art.
The meeting starts on April 20th at 14:00 in La Rotonde which is located in the prestigious cultural centre BOZAR, Rue Ravenstein 23. After the welcoming part we will listen to a presentation of the newly launched “Live Skills Project” by the British Council. Programme responsible Irini Vouzelakou will guide us through the concept of this project. She will be happy to receive constructive feedback from our LPM participants.
The next topic of the programme will be at 16:30 a joined visit at the international acknowledged Media and Art Center Argos. Director Rolf Quaghebeur is looking forward to show us the collection of the centre and to interact with our artists. After a short walk we will come back to La Rotonde and while we enjoy our dinner we are going to set up the space for the event starting at 21:00 In-between 19:00 and 21:00 all artists are welcome to play with their knowledge/light together with Swen Seyerlen from AVnode network.
The next topic of the programme will be at 16:30 a joined visit at the international acknowledged Media and Art Center Argos. On Friday 21st we will start at 9:30 in the Mezzanin (also in Bozar) with the presentation of a brand-new Audience Development Study done by Fitzcarraldo, Eccom, Intercult and Culture Action Europe. Alessandra Gariboldi will tell us the most important insights.,After a coffee break we continue with a workshop on Audience Development lead by Rossana Di Lella. Then lunch will fill us with new energy before tackling the project meeting and touching the finance report of the last year. The presentation will be done by Gianluca Del Gobbo. After this Workshop the official programme of AV Audience Development Meeting will end.
AVnode LPM 2015 > 2018 is a cooperation project between 13 partners from 12 countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Turkey and United Kingdom, aimed to promote and develop live video culture to European and worldwide audience with 14 events per year:
AVnode LPM 2015 > 2018 project gives special attention to Audience Development activities and strategies. The purpose is to help European artists/cultural professionals and their works reach as many people as possible across Europe, as well as extend access to cultural works to under-represented groups.
The meeting in Brussels the 20st 21st of April 2017 is mainly focus on the 13 partners of the project with some special guest.

SYNTHETIC BIO
Mauoq (born Mauro Campana) is a London based DJ/Producer originally from Rome, Italy.
After a few years spent in the early 90s playing italo-house and techno at student parties in Italy, he fell in love with the bass-rich breakbeat sound coming from the UK in the middle of the decade. Since then he has always pushed the deepest and grooviest side of the Drum’n’Bass spectrum and at the beginning of the new millennium he moved to London. Exposed to Dubstep a few years later, its dub-tinged sounds definitely caught his attention and redefined his dnb taste too. Less is more!
In 2010 he started a bi-monthly podcast series (Mauoq DNB Podcast) aimed at showcasing the most recent and interesting evolutions of this bass-driven electronic music genre at 170 bpm also known as Drum and Bass.
In terms of productions, he has been playing with basic music softwares since the late nineties but only took it seriously about ten years later and had his first release in 2011. Since then his releases have had Dj support from Dexta (Diffrent Music), Gremlinz (Hardware), Loxy (Cylon / Hardware), Mark System (Exit, Digital Soundboy), Reza (Cylon / CX), Skeptical (Exit), Stunna (Greenroom), Tokyo Prose (Samurai Music) and more.
In 2015 he has re-launched his record label Mauoq Music, a personal channel for his music and remixes of it.

ACT opening!
It's done! The two major electronic and digital arts events in Geneva come together to propose a new project: ACT, a space dedicated to Art and Creation in relation with new Technologies.
Although Electron Festival and Mapping Festival belong to the pioneering events which have grown alongside with the rise of digital arts on the Geneva scene as of the early 2000s, it is now clear that they missed a place entirely dedicated to technological creation that could foster the sustainability and development of its players under a common roof. That is why today, Mapping and Electron festivals rally together around the creation of this space.
From April 6 to May 28, ACT celebrates the numerous shapes of digital arts, with a program in two steps: ACT1, presented by Electron Festival, and ACT2, presented by Mapping Festival. Located at Le Commun (Rue des Bains 28), ACT will dedicate its first floor to two exhibitions. For two months, the ground floor will be turned into a welcoming space, hosting meetings, debates and exchanges, which will also take the form of workshops, conferences, masterclasses, performances and afterwork parties.
Partly intended for a well-informed public, this program, built jointly by Electron and Mapping Festival, is also meant to reach a wider audience, whose interest in new technologies keeps growing.

This Purim was quite psychedelic weekend Experience... with the Ťrilỡgỷ Festival Chapter III: PURIM 09-10.03.17 calling us for a MasterDamus show extravaganza @ the beautiful DUGIT BEACH Sea of Galilee.
We had 2 stages to play with both designed and painted by the talented Alon Deco & Ofir Yiflach Design team.
we came along a scary but psychedelic stage @ the main dance floor which looked like a gigantic face that really wanted to swallow the dj & the crowd & a classic blissful eye opening design @ the 2nd goa stage.
So we had a full live video mapping show @ both stages with 4 crew members: Dorian Natan VJ Masterdamus, Shai Koptziovski vj purple eye, Hagay Rasad vj Craft , & Ben Portman.
X2 super bright 15000ANSI Projectors to deal with the massive stages & extenssive amount of lights & lasers thrown on location. what a blast it was.
but Videos speak louder then words.... so enjoy this cool edited clip of both stages.

0101 are Daniel von Rüdiger and Carl. They orchestrate live looping guitars, sample drums, and social documentary together to create a Cinematic Postrock Experience. 0101 takes you on a cyclical audio voyage without contrived ambiance or excess droning. In fact you may find that at the end you have reached the beginning without knowing how you got there.
The audiovisual live performance 1Hz brings loop based music and cinematic visuals together.
It is part of Daniel von Rüdigers PhD at the University of Art and Design, Linz. In his practice based artistic research, he compares visual and auditory rhythm. Asynchronism of moving images and music stands at the core of this investigation.
The visuals are understood as an independent rhythmical instrument. The footage which is therefore used, was recorded in the course of a social-documentary by Daniel von Rüdiger in Papua New Guinea. It was produced by the Museum der Kulturen (Museum of Culture), Basel and exhibited, among others, in the Gropius Bau, Berlin and the Museum Rietberg, Zürich. The use of the documentary footage, in the context of an audio-visual live performance, provokes questions concerning the ‚Critical Whiteness‘ debate.
Standardisation of time is essential for a process of production. In a society, that considers time as money, this process is constantly professionalised. A highly advanced state of synchronisation in the music collides with natural body movement in the visuals and the original sound track. Two living environments are opposed: „simple and hard vs. complex and easy“.
The performances consist of two pieces. Both document residents of the village Kambot following their daily work. KANU deals with the building and transport of a dugout and SAGO shows the harvesting and processing of the staple food sago.
1Hz is presented as a rear projection on transparent foil. On that way the artists appear as shadows on the screen and merge with the protagonists of the documentary. The title 1Hz refers to its tempo 60 bpm. The performance is arranged in loops lasting four bars equal to 16 seconds. The project emphasizes its process and not a final result. Through inclusion of constant variation the differentiation of the work is ensured. The first version (1Hz | 001) was released in the course of an Artist in Residence at the Kasseler Dokfest in 2015.

The Disco Cane project is about creating intimate, unique, stimulating, multi-sensorial, ephemeral experiences for people. It is an evolved extension of my Disco Bike project, which has been one of my most successful works to date because it combines functionality, arts, music, video, light, dance, and public social interaction. Disco Bike is a mutant tall bike with over 3,000 mirrors, ornamentation, a custom built sound-system, and a portable projector. From Disco Bike, Disco Cane uses ornaments, part of the sound-system, and the projector and condenses them into a portable cane version. In this project, the interactive element uses an iPad to control the audio and video. When this component is active, audience members have the freedom to play and explore the creative flow state where one is completely focused in the present moment. The most recent addition to the interactive element is an “ancient but futuristic, dichroic, spinning, geometric quantum photon entangler.” Essentially it’s four prisms joined together to form a cube, which is the heart of any old video projector. This is encased in a laser cut cube attached to a motor. Using a nob and a switch, an audience member can control the speed and direction of the motor’s rotation. Part of the motivation for creating this project was that I rarely see small roaming personalized interactive installations at festivals. Most of the focus is on the stages and large-scale art projects. Enter Disco Cane, which strives to create magical moments exposing the beautiful ancient, future hidden in this universe.
