We had a blast playing our visuals to the amazing trance acts on the menu, while video mapping the giant stage created by ALON DECO. with acts such as: VINI VICI, DARWISH, SCORB, LOUD, KINDZAZA, AZAX, ABOMINATION, FILTERIA, RISING DUST, U-REKEN, COSA NOSTRA, SYMBOLIC, DOUBLE R.E.L., LIQUID ACE, & Many more = we had a real flow of quite different acts to play with. sometimes the music was too strong, we noticed people sitting on the grass watching it (while shouting = dont block it! its so beautiful!) - great achievement for vjing in our book! after so many years of producing & playing our visuals live - its amazing some events can still surprise and touch you in such way. CLOSE ACT theatre company asked MMXI and VOXL to do the videomapping for their latest spectacle GLOBE.
GLOBE responds to todays world: as caught in a net of financial structures and social class different. The visual spectacular translation is inspired by current themes from world cultures and universal childrens stories. The story of GLOBE is the real world being approached from a childs perspective.
GLOBE connects people.
GLOBE uses circus techniques, pyrotechnique and video projection/beaming. The ethos is alienating, fairylike, impressive and filled with symbolism.
GLOBE is a visual and interactive show suitable for a large audience circa 5.000 to 10.000 visitors. The performance takes place in and around a big sphere.
Spectators will be approached and surprised from all sides.
Decor and mobile objects are grand and impressive. They are spectacularly exposed and accompanied with sound from all sides. This achieves a total perception that reminiscent of pop concerts or mass meetings.

Singularity is live visual synthesis created to be performed on big venues like auditoriums, urban spaces or fulldomes. It is inspired by the concepts of gravitational singularity, creating a synesthetic experience that synchronously communicates images with sound creating an immersive environment that evokes outer space and the sounds of the cosmos.
CONCEPT:
The gravitational singularity is an area of complex space that is not yet fully understood by human being. There are some situations that bring us closer to how the singularity could looks like. Black holes and the description of the origin of the universe are examples of the singularity, however it’s a complex concept and there arise many questions that leads us to think about our existence in relation to the origin of everything and consequently in the end of the universe.
Big Crunch theory proposes that all that expanding matter that reaches the ends is being affected by the very gravity of the universe.
Upon reaching the limit of its expansion, gravity will cause all the contraction of all the matter of the universe to the point where everything began to re-form that singularity, like a Big Bang in reverse.
The piece seeks to recreate this singularity, an artistic version of the fabric of space-time, the beginning-end and the behavior of the particles during its collapse-destruction-creation and cosmic reversion.

Touchdesigner - Particle Wave

GPU-based audio-reactive particle system, running in real time @60fps
Three different segments with adjusted parameters to suit the music.
My goal is to find a procedural approach, balancing between coherently visualising the music and a complex enough aesthetic to maintain visual interest with minimal repetition.
Motion and intensity is driven by an audio-spectrum, overall volume and beat detection. Low frequency shaping functions, with the help of double-symmetry, producing ever changing patterns and structures. Fed through a series of feedback loops and 2D displacements to achieve trails, streams and a cheap liquid effect.
Made in Touchdesigner.
