An audio-responsive visual composition made with code. A mix of geometries defined by maths, generative systems driving cubes, drawing lines and making particles dance, along with some abstract spherical backgrounds mixed with videos. Controlled live by one hyper-active octopus with a midi-controller using 8 faders, 22 buttons and 21 knobs.
Made in HLSL and vvvv using Instance Noodles. It's mostly GPU shader code, bro.

On ne vous en dit pas plus, si ce n’est que dans l’arcade Go Out Out ! raisonnera la citation de Guy de Maupassant « Chacun de nous se fait donc simplement une illusion du monde, illusion poétique, sentimentale, joyeuse, mélancolique, sale ou lugubre suivant sa nature ».

L'idée n'est pas neuve.

Raoul Dufy réalise 2 tableaux de la rue des Drapiers à Paris
pavoisée pour la fête nationale.
Abondance de bleu, rouge et blanc,
la fête bat son plein.
Là où d’autres auraient restitué la vibration colorée des drapeaux tricolores,
lui présente des masses inertes,
organisées en aplats,
vacant sur le devant de la toile.
Acclamation républicaine de la souveraineté
ou simple approche fauviste de la peinture?
Les portes automatiques se referment hermétiquement derrière vous
avec un léger chuintement.
C’était un étrange milieu,
aussi raffiné qu’ impitoyable.
Un espace dont la grosse clé
brune de rouille
renferme une exposition.
Conçue selon la volonté souveraine d'un sans papier,
elle délimite en réalité
un espace où l’ordre juridique est suspendu.

un drapeau apatride se voit flanqué aux abords de la rue du Diorama à Genève.
Du drapeau on ne garde que son ombre et son courant d’air.

Six days and nights of inspiration over two floors in celebration of the Adidas NMD. Hellicar&Lewis were challenged to create a series of interactive installations throughout Future House - all inspired by the NMD. We created a realtime VJ system that allowed for performers to activate video graphics with their performances, a nine screen surveillance installation that toyed with viewers perception of time and finally a large scale live kaleidoscope built to encourage new movement and to be shared on social networks.

Tim Vis live fo the Pan-Pot's performance on the Urban Art Forms Festival in 2014 (AT, Graz). A large part of the stage's frontal surface and the backdrop consited of combined LEDs. The whole area was the screen for the Visuals.
The original audio on which the visuals were performed is heavily distorted. It was replaced by the recording of another show of that year. Pan-Pot, if you have problems with this please contact me first and give me the chance to change it.

CoGe Tutorial: Mask Layering Techniques from DocOptic on Vimeo.
This CoGe tutorial demonstrates 3 different techniques to layer your visuals with masks or mattes. By using black and white content, we can display content through the white areas of footage with these various masking methods. The first technique involves using the Multiply blend mode to mask all layers below a black and white mask layer. The second demonstration explains how to use the "Mask with Layer" effect to select specific layers we wish to mask. The last technique shows how to create a mask overlay using an alpha channel that reveals the bottom layers only in the transparent areas while keeping masked content on top. We show how this techniques can be applied to a plain white logo to make it more visually interesting.
The visuals in this tutorial are ready-made for CoGe and available on our website.

[Updated framework of my VJ software]
I’m using openFrameworks as my VJ software’s framework (I really love to use it). I might get a chance to use 2 projectors at the same event in the near future. Then, I’ve felt that want to project 2 different images through 2 projectors. I searched Internet that which way would be the best solution for my desire. I’ve found the latest openFrameworks has multi window function. So, I’ve decided to update current openFrameworks 0.8.4 to the latest openFrameworks 0.9.3. Yes, had to beyond the MAJOR update.
Transferring my current source code into the latest openFrameworks has taken several hours but when I run my app on the new openFrameworks, I’ve got some strange symptoms (yes, not ERROR. My source code had been compiled successfully). FPS (Frame per Seconds) had significantly dropped down when I've changed drawing mode of my app. Furthermore, it had only happened when my app using full screen. Very strange. I've checked update change log in openFrameworks Web site, but there was nothing that I've expected.
I’ve spent Sunday for fixing the problem. Finally, I’ve found the cause. Getting screen size function caused the symptom. Calling the function 1 time at a moment was no problem but calling it many times (ex: 10,000 times LoL), the symptom had happened. Yes, calling 10,000 times might seems a heavy task to you, programmers but in 0.8.4 had no problem LoL
I’m spending 3 days for updating and revising the details of program. It’s fun except when I’m getting strange error LoL.

Perceptual video sorting using Synopsis

I've analyzed a portion of my VJ video library with my video analysis software Synopsis.
Here I do realtime sorting based on Spotlight search results. Synopsis queries global metadata stored and cached within the Quicktime movies and uses those to compute similarity scores used for sorting.
I view similar clips using a variety of correlation algorithms, using image hashes adopted for video, global histogram similarity, dominant color comparison, and a smart heuristic which attempts to combine weights of the above algorithms to provide a best match.

Live Cinema Festival 2016
Live Cinema Festival 2016 will take place from 8 to 11 September in Rome.
The festival aims to offer the audience an overview of different ways of interpreting Live Cinema, from analogic of projectors 16 mm to the last digital experiments, through the performances of 8 international artistic groups with 15 artists coming from: Hungary, Poland, United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Spain and over 30 artists guests of the screenings and a selection of the most interesting roman djs for the opening with a grand total of over 50 artists.
The location for its third edition is Macro – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma, an interesting example of dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary architecture which, with its strong vocation connected to the world of innovation and artistic experimentation, is surely the right setting to host an artistic-cultural exposition aiming to offer a free and high quality cultural proposal to the area of Via Nizza and to the city of Rome.

A good ol' friend of mine has matured into a stellar producer and DJ so I happily helped him with the creation of some visuals for his new DOPE track yo. Spent about two days on the whole thing (excluding the days of rendering), so it's basically a 10 sec loop. Had to do some glitching since it didn't turn out seemless (?!?!?!?!). Also forgot to turn on "Premultiply" in the Octane Camera so the alpha is fucked up in some places. IT IS WHAT IT IS.
