1000 m² dedicated to Media Art 35 artists, 33 works and a 300 m² immersive room MAM – MEDIA ART MUSEUM OPENS ON 9 OCTOBER In Rome, at Corso d’Italia 37/D, the new permanent space dedicated to Media Art opens: 1000 m² for exhibitions, installations, education and experimentation, with a 300 m² immersive room and an integrated stage that makes it unique. MAM is conceived as a space dedicated to digital culture and its continuous transformations, connecting its history with contemporary artistic research. And it could only begin with HyperMedia. HYPERMEDIA35 artists, 48 people from 11 countries and 33 works spanning Immersive Art, AI Art, Net Art and audiovisual installations. HyperMedia traces some of the key developments in digital culture, from the democratisation of technologies in the 1990s to contemporary artistic research. From Net Art, hacker culture and Flash, where the network becomes the space of the artwork, to early experiments with artificial intelligence and generative and interactive systems; from VJing and AV performance, where the image becomes an instrument to be played, to creative coding, and finally to immersive environments, where the artwork moves beyond the boundaries of the screen. At the heart of the exhibition is the 300 m² immersive room, where a selection of 16 contemporary works unfolds across the walls and floor, transforming images, sound, code and space into environments that the audience can enter. Alongside these 16 works, historical works from the early web become navigable and interactive once again, connecting the origins of digital culture with today’s practices. A space is also dedicated to AI Art, bringing together artists who have been experimenting with artificial intelligence for over twenty years with the most recent research. From the network to space, from the screen to the environment, from interaction and to immersivity. >>> TICKETS AVAILABLE - BUY NOW <<< |
