We were invited by Virada Cultural Festival 2014 to create an audiovisual proposal for the city of São Paulo in partnership with Vj Spetto and Pedro Zaz (United Vjs). We decided to pay tribute to the old downtown through the rescue of one of the most famous and influential places in the 40’s and 50’s : The Mappin Department Store. Using the video mapping technique we could recreate the facade, tell histories and play with shapes and movements to give prominence to the architectural lines of the building. 12 projectors were used making 192,000 ansilumens that covered an area of approximately 2500 m2. One of the biggest video mapping ever seen in the country so far.
Fomos chamados pela curadoria da Virada Cultural 2014 para criar uma proposta audiovisual para a cidade de São Paulo em parceria com o Vj Spetto e Pedro Zaz (United Vjs). Decidimos por homenagear o centro antigo da cidade através do resgate de um dos locais mais famosos e influentes da sociedade paulistana nos anos 40 e 50: A loja de departamentos Mappin. Através da técnica de vídeo mapping pudemos recriar a antiga fachada, contar histórias e explorar formas e movimentos que dessem destaque para as linhas arquitetônicas do edifício. Foram utilizados 12 projetores fazendo 192.000 ansilumens que cobriram uma área de aproximadamente 2500 m2. Uma das maiores projeções já vistas até então no país.

Je suis un VJ et graphiste. J'ai commencé à travailler sur les polyèdres régiment en avril 2013. Cette structure est composée de 100 polyèdres tronqués collés ensemble, ce doit être construit en papier, découpé par une machine de découpe laser et assemblé à la main, tous les graphiques, les animations sont projetées sur la structure, elles sont constituées par l'interaction avec le public et d'autres sources.
I am a graphic designer and VJ. I started working on polyhedra Regiment in april 2013. This structure is composed of 100 truncated polyhedra glued together, it must be constructed of paper and cut by a machine laser cut and assembled by hand, the graphics and animations are projected onto the structure, they are formed by the interaction with the public and other sources.

VjThai & Media Selectah were invited to a special event to celebrate the different creative expressions of Urban Culture and Hip Hop, with the best breakdance talent in the country at the biggest university in México UNAM: CULTURA URBAN EN CIUDAD UNIVERSITARIA.
This is a video extract of the introduction to the final show, where Hip Hop final national battles were presented in a classical theater Covarrubias at Centro Cultural de la UNAM.
The show lasted about 2 hours, it began with and audiovisual improvisation by MC VanT, Dj Under, Vj Thai and a projection & video mapping design by Media Selectah.
A multimedia portrait of Hip Hop culture took place this nite, bringing the street culture to the theater, where improvisation of breakers, Mcs, Djs and Vjs from different parts of México was what made this arousing community come together.
We had lots of fun meeting and sharing stage with great multidisciplinary talent!

Oldie but goodie. Animated and edited all the intro sequence, which ends at 1:02 .
After that, there are some 3D elements I generated to be used as wipers/transitions between the scenes.
The final mapping ended up consisting of more than 16 minutes of 3D and 2D computer animation.
Most of my work here showcases some of my first experimentations with Cinema 4D.
All other background, animations and elements besides the intro and the 3d wiper elements done and edited by Altered VJs productions and Akbal. Audio design also by Altered VJs prod.
Mapped over Ciudad Victoria's government palace (ignoring the middle part of the building) as part of the festivities of 16 de Septiembre (Mexico's Independence Day) of 2012 .

RRRealtime - INDIGO from vjmandala on Vimeo.
SYNOPSIS: In episode INDIGO, RRRealtime sees artists DJ Andrew Till (The Visitor) play a well constructed set of psy-trance. VJ Mandala (Adem Jaffers) in uses looped camera feedback processed Fairlight imagery along with sequences of Hi-8 in-camera VFX created using props. Animation overlaid over digital feedback using the vision mixer FX module was a constant throughout. The RRRealtime mixes are a series of recordings made at the RMITV Studio during the Cyberthon V: Spectrum broadcasts on C31 1995. Public TV was in its 2 year of full-time broadcasting and the Cyberthons were in their (unknown at the time) final peak series of shows. The 2nd half of the Spectrum 1 hour episodes a segment called RRRealtime was aired, where DJ/VJ would mix free-form. Due to the rest of the shows segments lasting for varying lengths of time, RRRealtime provided an A/V buffer that lasted for however much time was left in the broadcast hour – also ensuring the live show finished exactly on time. The original premise of RRRealtime was cast via the live VJ mixing to audio (output of any-kind; DJ, Band, Spoken word etc) in all the previous Cyberthon events since c1991. Though given certain restrictions, the usual open house all-come all-jam policy was not as possible as it was in the days gone by. Nonetheless RRRealtime provided fertile experimentation ground for VJ Mandala with collaborating DJ Andrew Till (The Visitor). Each week RMITV Studios permanent setup had provided 2 turntables, cassette tape deck and studio sound mixing desk for DJ. And SP-Betacam, SVHS tape players and the legendary Grassvalley vision mixer with digital effect module hardware for VJ. A luxury setup really! Additionally, Deluxe Paint, Elan Performer, Opal Paint and Movieshop software running on an Amiga 2000 (w/ Vlab Motion Card) computer was used in all VJ performances, genlocked over/under vision mixer video output signal. DJ Visitor was the resident DJ who not only provided audible landscapes to enhance segment breaks, or programming audio for certain segments, opening titles and closing credits, but during the RRRealtime segments was where Andrew's encapsulated audio journey could be fully realized – and a journey is what Andrew brought to the table each week. DJ Digital Primate (Chris Coe) sat in for Andrew on a couple occasions. VJ Don't Shoot The Messenger (Steve Middleton) also collaborated with VJ Mandala (Adem Jaffers) on several occasions; as did Dale Nason (Cyber Dada) and Kim Bounds with their evolving visual piece called abcTVxyz, which grew in length each week.

Then combined colored wipe patterns to switch between sampled Fairlight processed pre-made video feedback and samples of Fairlight processed laser lighting imagery inter-cut with digital animation triggered in realtime and sample stroboscopic imagery.
