" Fun with Displacement Maps.
This clip is variations on the same theme. Essentially what is happening here is that the quicktime movie of the fish in the background is being used as the displacement map for the DISTORTION MODULE on a plane being drawn in different modes.. as points, as linestrip, as quads, and as polygons. The quicktime is also mapped on to the plane as a texture. Compose fx are used on the scene output, and the color difference you see between the 3L object and the background is due to the transfer mode, as well as the alpha choices for the object.
What is important to note here is that the DISTORTION SLIDE parameter is set to 30% in order to slow down the motion of the displacement map. This results in the "flowing" motion of the displacement of the plane as the fish are moving. So what you are seeing here is not a 2d core image fx, but instead displacement and texturing being applied to a 3d object which is a plane, and that plane is poistioned above the background quicktime. So the displacement effect follows the motion of the fish.
Audio Track is "Mute As a Fish" from the austrian electronic artist Lichtenberg. These clips were created and rendered in reatime using the built in dvr in thrill.artificialeyes.tv at 320x240 pixels in the motion jpeg a codec at lossless settings. The uploaded clip is an mp4. "

Bamboozled With 3L
Egy kis 3L technika.

" This example is comprised of clips produced using the built-in dvr in 3L at 320x240 pixels in the motion jpeg a codec. They are just slammed together back to back with a track from Ambient Amazon, and demonstrates how to use 3d space to achieve motion and perspective that appears to be 2d, utilizing jpegs of bamboo, and ferns.
The clip illustrates a few methods:
Mapping a jpeg on to a cylinder and rotating it so that you can see through both surfaces, giving the unfocused foreground and in focus "warped" background effect.The second method is moving the position of a jpeg on a sphere along one of its axis before it is mapped to the object, and rotating the sphere so that the point of origin makes it look as if the image is dissappearing down a funnel. (This is NOT a distortion fx applied to the Scene Output.
Also demonstrated is using a movie texture to supply the deformation map to a surface of an object to create rippling fx. In this example, the background (yellow/red color) is used BOTH as a composed background texture behind the fern leaves, which are mapped on to a sphere, AND as the moving map to determine the distortion values of the sphere/fern.there are other additional simple motion rules used, as well as some fx on the final outputs to tweak the colors and provide additional depth and shadowing. "

" Ever get to a gig, expecting to do some cool content and then have the promoter or a marketing manager hanging over your every move to play the sponsor logo every 20 minutes or some such shite? Last night's gig was like that for me... the closing party for the GNOME developers conference in Istanbul. And the sponsor for the event was google. So it was hours of playing with the google logo in 3L. This example here is just a jpeg mapped onto various shapes in the VIEWPOINT mode, which maps the texture across your view of the object instead of on the multiple faces of the object. So what you see is a distorted view of the texture determined by the movements of the object. In this particular example i used the front faces solid / back faces wireframe draw mode to create some interesting distortions on the logo. The track is "The Search For Truth" from Klystron "

Music Video Inspiration: Music Meets 1970s Human Biology
Jeremy Linzee muzsikus és Ethan Vogt fílmkészítő összefogott és közös projectet hozott létre. Jeremy élő előadására Ethan helyben mixel újra régi filmeket ( "recutting the video on the fly", ahogy az angol mondja, vagyis rőptében újravágja a filmet ).
Most a Human Biology című, 1970-ben készűlt ismeretterjesztő fílm live mixét láthatjátok és hallhatjátok Jeremy Linzee énekét. A produkcióban 50/50 százalékban osztoznak.

Keyboard Touch - billentyűzet Apple módra
" A Maclife magazin Júniusi számában olyan Apple újdonságokat mutatott be amiket a szabadalmi hivatalnál már bejegyeztek, de még nincsenek forgalomban. Ilyen a Mac Tablet amelyet az iMac-be lehet illeszteni, az iPone mini és a Keyboard Touch. Ez utóbbi fizikai paramétereit tekintve egy billentyűhöz hasonlít, de technikája merőben más. A vékony téglalap egyetlen hatalmas OLED kijelző amin megjelennek a billentyűk és a képernyő megérintésével ütjük le azt. A hatalmas újdonság az, hogy különféle billentyűnézetek között lehet majd válásztani pl. Photoshop, WoW, hagyományos és mindegyik nézet más más gombokat emel ki, mutat meg. A lehetőségek skálája végtelen.
A periféria 2010-ben jelenik meg előreláthatóan. "

Olyan régen használom, hogy már fel sem tűnik, csak ha frissíteni kell. Viszont lehet, hogy néhányan nem ismerik ezt a remek kiegészítő programot.
" A Perian azoknak a Mac felhasználóknak lehet hasznos, akik QuickTime alapú videós és VJ szoftvereket használnak. A Perian komponens a QuickTime által alapból nem támogatott formátumokat kezel, és ezek a formátumok elérhetőek QuickTime-on keresztül. VJ-k számára lehet a leghasznosabb, így pl. egy rakás net-es videómegosztó oldalon található képi anyagot használhatsz…
A Perian ingyenesen letölthető, sőt, a forráskód is LGPL licenc alatt, tovább infók és részletek a weboldalon. "
