Andrew Duffield and school friend, Ollie Olsen studied electronic music under composer Felix Werder, in the mid 1970s. They went on to form the early Melbourne experimental music band, Whirlywirld. Duffield will do a talk on vintage synths and his advertising work. Andrew and Ollie will discuss their early work together followed by a performance.

Ollie Olsen is an Australian-based multi-instumentalist, composer and sound designer. He has performed, recorded and produced rock, electronic and experimental music since the mid-1970s. In the late 70's Ollie formed one of the first electronic bands, Whirlywirld, releasing a number of recordings on Missing Link Records. During the next ten years Ollie formed experimental outfigs Huga Klang and Orchestra of Skin and Bone, then the hard-core industrial techno band, NO. In recent years Olsen has turned back to live perfomance with Taipan Tiger Girls, opening a new chapter in a personal musical and artistic journey of over forty years.

Andrew Duffield is an Australian musician, composer, producer and teacher. He has been a member, on keyboards, synthesisers or electronics, for various groups, including Whirlywirld, Models and Absent Friends. Duffield has also been a backing musician for other artists both on tours and for studio sessions. Since 1985, Andrew Duffield has created sountracks to some 500 television commercials, bot nationally and internationally.

Visual projectionist Adem Jaffers has performed at television studios, galleries, outdoor bush doofs, urban night club venues and at warehouses, TV broadcast, rave and party spaces.
