At the improvisation-based ECHOES live set, the visual elements of nature and objects magnified through a microscope lens by MACRO VJ collective, will turn into a special universe inspired by Wave of Sound’s electro-ambient, new-age and modern-classical compositions. The live performance takes us to fictional panoramas and landscapes of colors, shapes, textures, sounds and noises that are thought to be invisible.

Aurality -20°10’45.3176” -044°04’01.4329” is the ambient counterpart to Aurality: Earth Loop, still at the crossroad between harmonic space, experimental electronics and field recordings. It elaborates on The Eternal Music Machine compositions through the lens of a variety of audio processing techniques, in particular Time Lag Accumulation, a tape looping technique developed by Terry Riley and Pauline Oliveros in their late 1960s performances. Like an array of sonic encounters, it floats and wavers above the pliable junction of experimental electronics and field recording research.

For the visuals, distortion and lo fi retro quality play a key part in the compositing performance. The images are processed with analogue video synthesizers from unedited images from Nature recorded in Croatia by Monaí de Paula Antunes and Silvia Noronha. Oceans, Forests and the Sunlight are the main source of our inspiration.

Niko de Paula Lefort works as a musical instrument developer, field recordist, radio transmission and installation artist. Also known as NikoLFO, he is a resident host on Archipel Stations Community Radio and a co-founder of the record label Portals Editions.

Laura Fong Prosper is a video artist, VJ and filmmaker. She explores the boundaries between analogue and digital audiovisual material. Using different process-oriented techniques, she moderates a dialogue with media, time and stories. While working with archival material, old photographs and analogue video synthesizers she conducts her own research as " found footage recycler".

Aurality -20°10'45.3176" -044°04'01.4329" is their second collaboration together.

Future Music Episode 7 - VJ VIX, Work in Progress. My goal in creating the Future Music Series is to be able to stream a reasonably accurate version of my live show. My live shows feature real time control of visual projections while I am creating the soundtrack with Ableton Live on the same computer. I usually play guitar and sing into Ableton, and trigger pre-recorded samples. My show, "Sound Seed: Tribute to Pauline Oliveros" documented elsewhere on my Vimeo channel, is the best example of this type of performance. My challenge with Future Music Online Series, is to stream this complex setup so it can be enjoyed on the internet. My mandate with this series is to show work in progress because I have a tendency to be a perfectionist, so it takes me a long time to release work. Episode 7 is an actual recorded stream, so there are places where the sound doesn't work properly etc. However, I have to put something out every week and this is where I am after a week of work. I am joyous that I have achieved some success and that the audio from my show is streaming. However, I still have to smooth out the process of changing shows, usually I have stayed on one show, so this is a new experience. Moving the audio from sharing media content, to not sharing, is causing issues with my mic being turned off. Good thing I am a technician! Tune in to Episode 8 to see how much I can improve in one week . . .

The concert has two main characters, Claude Debussy and Gabriel Dupont, but also consists of many voluntary and involuntary memories (Couperin, Bach, Beethoven, Schumann), of testimonies by contemporaries of the narrators (Chausson, Busoni, Bartók), and of connections with a more recent past through the work of master temporal illusionist György Ligeti (namely with his Etudes), but also Kurtag and Nono.

How to read water is an interdisciplinary dance installation that explores the relationship between the human body and the ocean. Dance artist Anna Thu Schmidt, musician Thea Ellingsen Grant, VJ Mina Paasche, and media artist Hanne Dahl Geving explore within their own field how the sea resonates in us, and translate the connection one feels with the ocean, to a connection between performer and audience. In How to read water #2 Schmidt, Grant, Geving and Paasche create a multidisciplinary performance experience and timeless, meditative space inside the black box inspired by the phenomenon called ‘Blue Space’.

PyRJunior 2021: CALL FOR ENTRIES now OPEN

Hi,

Punto y Raya is proud to announce the launch of the third PyR JUNIOR CALL for entries addressed to children aged under 13 years old.

We invite our youngest artists to create Abstract (non-representational) short films exploring the beauty and creative possibilities of Form, Colour, Motion and Sound in their purest state. No representation: only Dots & Lines! The festival's mission is to recapture the spirit of Cinéma Pure and Absolute Film formulated by the European avant-garde in the 1920s, consolidating this unique art form at the intersection of Fine Arts and Media.

The deadline is September 13th, 2021. Submissions are free and must be entered by a responsible adult through our website.

If you are an educator or parent and would like your children to participate, we encourage you to carry out activities to produce short films together. We have devised a few GUIDELINES for animation and video Workshops, in case you need some tips. And in our PyRTVJUNIOR platform you will also find hundreds of films created by children as well as professionals using the most diverse techniques.

PARTICIPATION RULES

If possible, we kindly invite you to register the work process on video and attach it to your submission. We will edit this material as part of the "Making of" of the Festival, seeking to bring the creative process closer to the participants and inspire people around the world to join the project. The third edition of PUNTO y RAYA JUNIOR will take place in October 2021 in Wroclaw, Poland.

The JUNIOR extension of Punto y Raya Festival follows the same spirit and features the same activities as the “senior” editions of the world benchmark for Abstract Art in Motion. The difference is that the contents are MADE BY CHILDREN aged under 13 years old.

The second PyR Junior Festival took place October 4 - 6th 2019, hosted and coproduced by CeTA (Audiovisual Technology Center) in Wroclaw, Poland. The Call for Abstract Short Films closed on August 5th, with the participation of children and schools from 10 countries / 28 cities. This video showcases brief examples of the creative process behind the works featured at the international event.
