“Minute, mobile, and light” is a work that draws inspiration from the literary images evoked by Italo Calvino in “Lightness” and from the artistic experience of Philippe Petit, “funambulist and poet of life”.
It investigates the opposition lightness/weight starting out from an interior dimension and from a way of feeling. Its research is oriented towards the expressive language of a body without weight, free in thought and action.
Within this perspective, Gabriella Cerritelli experiments with a dance guided by a movement both light and precise, which adapts with sensitivity to a context in continuous transformation.
The figure of the funambulist is adopted as an emblematic image: tenacious, determined, and driven by a great interior force, the funambulist moves without leaving a trace suspended in the void. Funambulism is a subtle art, ephemeral and ineffable, like the art of living.
“Lightness for me is associated with precision and determination, not with vagueness or leaving to chance. Paul Valéry said: “One must be light like a bird, not like a feather”. Italo Calvino.
The first study presented July 19, 2011 in Turin for “La Piattaforma” at the Festival “Teatro a Corte” was centered on the opposition lightness/weight and has the collaboration of the trapeze artist Justine Bernachon.
The second study is the outcome of an experimental research in collaboration with IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Turin, where Gabriella Cerritelli performs through the space focusing on the visual perception and interplays with VJ Nadia Zanellato's live visuals.
The initial reference image is that of Perseo (“The only hero able to cut off Medusa’s head is Perseus, who flies with winged sandals; Perseus, who does not turn his gaze upon the face of the Gorgon but only upon her image reflected in his bronze shield.”) with such a gentle and strong soul that allows to explore a territory made of “impalpable entities that move between sensitive soul and intellective soul, between heart and mind, between eyes and voice.”

I did some Projection Mapping at Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix AZ. I mapped onto the front of every stand of the Arizona State Concert Jazz Band and over the heads of the band with just one 5K projector;-) This was for a concert Captain Squeegee did with the ASU Jazz Band!!! I'm using an Isadora patch that I've worked on for 7 years going into Mad Mapper!!!

La día inició con el taller de [VJ's para no VJ's] a cargo de VJ Ctrl Zeta sobre proyección de video con softwares como Modul8 y MadMapper. Al bajar la noche VJ Wanda fue la encargada de proyectar las visuales que iluminaron el teatro, una escenografía que se diseñó especialmente para los 7 Dj set que tocaron hasta la media noche.

Night Ferry took place on June 30, 2012
Night Ferry was a large-scale interactive sound and video art installation created by John JH Phillips in the new Schuylkill Banks Crescent Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Multiple video projectors animate a maze of translucent screens through which visitors can interact with images created in real time by 4 Philadelphia video artists. Dance with your shadow, dissolve into color, enjoy the park! Part of Commotion, a public art project in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Commissioned by the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority with funding by PECO.

Zimą Warmia zamiera - staje się polską Skandynawią. Zimą na Warmii trzeba sporo inwencji
i kreatywności, aby hasło „rozrywka” nie równało się z umartwianiem przed telewizorem.
Trzeba skrzyknąć przyjaciół, wziąć kamerę, węgiel i grill, kupić kaszankę, musztardę i bułki,
zrobić do termosu herbatę z cytryną i ruszyć w przestrzeń uzbrojonym w jedną tylko zasadę:
brak planu i celu podróży.
W ten sposób gdzieś w przestrzeni Warmińskiej zimowej Nirwany, podczas pieczenia
krwawej kiszki w panoramie biało-czarnych pasów przysypanego śniegiem zaoranego pola,
nagrywam groteskowy i absurdalny materiał wideo. Wybieram i poddaję cyfrowej manipulacji krótkie sekwencje, z których potem, za pomocą veejaying’u – powstanie spektakl wideo.

PIGS research aims to develop instruments for visual performance that use percussion gestures - not sounds - to perform live visuals. When we perform a musical instrument, the challenge is to handle both performer-controllable things - like our own gestures - and more chaotic ones - like the vibration of a string or cymbal. Digital instruments don't inherently present these physically-based challenges. That avoids some degree of torture for the performer, but sometimes hurts the performance. PIGS approaches performative visuals as a combination of gesture and algorithmic process, analogous to the way a musical tone can be thought of in terms of fundamental (like the striking of a cymbal) and harmonic (the cymbal's "sh" sound as it fades away.) The video content is of course also an important component.
Although PIGS draws on elements of musical performance, it is not a sound/image mapping system. It's premised on parallels in performance, not on sonic/visual ones. While PIGS is designed to be performed image-only, I've left the accompanying sound in this demo for illustration purposes. (BTW, I'm performing here on a tabletop MIDI drum kit I've been using for development purposes, so performance is a bit awkward and limited as compared to a performance setup.)
I've just begun developing PIGS, and it's in a very rough stage. For example, there's lots of latency, and there's plenty of rough stuff in the "decay" effects I've created for this video. There's also lots for me to work out about what the triggered videos should be like, how they should be framed, timed, etc. (In this video, I've used "abstract"videos for most of the drums, and fireworks for the lowest tom-tom as an example of a representational video. And also, because fireworks are just lots of fun with drums.)

To make a long story short, the drums are triggering the video. This is a just-for-fun demo using the PIGS system, because it's fun to play with drums and fireworks. Er, not live fireworks though; you shouldn't play with those... Anyway, for details, check the first PIGS demo video on this channel.

Announcing the FaderFox micromodul8 MIDI controller
We are often asked: "What kind of controller do you recommend for controlling Modul8?"
The answer from us is always "one that works best for you." After a while we started asking ourselves what kind of controller we would like to use with Modul8, and then contacted FaderFox to build it for us. The result of this collaboration is the FaderFox micromodul8 MIDI controller.
The micromodul8's dimensions are 180 x 105 x 70 mm, weighing 350 g so you can put it in your backpack along with your laptop and it will not take up too much space on a desk.
micromodul8 is USB class compliant and powered by the same port, no drivers are required. It has 3 standard knobs, 4 multi-functional rotary encoders, a crossfader and 36 colored buttons that we have carefully tailored to allow you to access each of the 10 Modul8 layers and a group of 16 buttons that mirrors the layout of the media set. Of the 36 buttons, 32 of them are supplied with an LED light providing the ability to receive feedback.
Functions of the controller will be fully integrated into Modul8 so that it will be easier for module savvy folks to customize controls to their hearts delight.
Pricing will be 249 € and it will be available in the second-quarter of 2013.

This is a brief recording of a combined DJ/VJ set I made for the Cortex audio/visual event put on in 2010 by London breakcore'n'bass crews No Fixed Abode and Dissident Island.
All visual compositions are entirely composed by me using Quartz Composer patches, animated PNG files, clips from 3L and loads of FFGL effects. They were recorded from live multi-layered playback in Resolume Avenue 3, whilst synced to their respective track and with live audio-analysis response. All audio tracks are not by me.
These clips were chopped to a neat loop and then loaded into a fresh two-deck Resolume project. The audio and control side of things was a simple Ableton set-up. Audio and visual FX were set up in their respective applications and a custom control surface was devised on a Jazz Mutant Lemur to work both apps simultaneously.
The recording for this upload was done using the Syphon Server and Recorder - highly recommended. This is all running on a now-ageing Macbook Pro. I would preferably work on a v2.0 of this project on a newer machine with more grunt.

With a very loose brief supplied by Drive Productions - this content was produced at 4.2K to be projected onto a 30m screen during an aerial performance for the 2012 SU2C Fundraiser.
The focal point was the centre of the screen where two aerial artists performed.
This job had a very tight budget and a short turnaround (6 days).
Joel Geddes and I shot the source material on Canon 7Ds using macro lenses, inks and food colouring.
Joel shot all of the circular petri-dish footage and did some excellent research into ferro fluids. Unfortunately we ran out of time so didn't include the Ferro footage.
I then did the post and compositing at my studio using Premiere and After Effects.

Le samedi 22 août 2012, à l'occasion de l'inauguration du nouveau quartier du PRU à Lisieux, un collectif d'artistes caennais formé pour l'occasion donnera sa version de l'histoire méconnue des lemmings lexoviens.
Quand les habitants du nouveau quartier du PRU s'endorment, d'autres se lèvent et travaillent, comme eux, pour construire leur habitat et survivre aux catastrophes naturelles.
Cette épopée fera mentir cette légende urbaine du "syndrôme du Lemming" qui raconte que ces petits rongeurs de Norvège, p
ris d’une incontrôlable pulsion de mort se précipitaient en masse du haut des falaises qui dominaient les fjords. Le lemming normand est lui plus combatif que son cousin norvégien sûrement trop privé de soleil dans sa jeunesse.
Découvrez cette aventure taillée à la mesure du bâtiment grâce à la technique du mapping video qui consiste à prendre en compte les reliefs des édifices en lien avec une narration. Grâce à la projection video, le bâtiment devient un décor modulaire dans lequel des personnages et des événements évoluent. La bande son écrite spécialement pour l'occasion sera jouée en live par Pablo (Jean-Paul dub) ce qui rendra le spectacle plus interactif.
Rendez-vous donc à la tombée de la nuit le samedi 22 septembre, le spectacle est gratuit et diffusé jusqu'à minuit.

Initiation Modul8 & MadMapper Janvier 2013
Une session d'initiation VJing et Vidéo Mapping sur les logiciels Modul8 et MadMapper en cours du soir de 19h à 22h au 146 rue des Poissonniers dans le 18é à Paris. 10 places maximum, 200€ la semaine pour les membres de Technopol et 320€ la semaine pour les non membres.
Matériel demandé : venez avec votre Mac et les logiciels Modul8 et MadMapper d'installés en version démo ou licence. Munissez vous d'une feuille de carton plume d'environ 5mm au format A3 pour les travaux manuels à l'apprentissage du Vidéo Mapping, dans votre trousse d'écolier il vous faudra aussi un cutter, un tube de colle et du scotch.
