GENIUS LOCI WEIMAR FESTIVAL took place from 9-11th August 2013.
During this weekend more than 12.000 visitors gazed in wonder at the spectacular facade
shows of the second Genius Loci Weimar festival.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday visitors had the opportunity to experience the complex productions. The Wittumspalais facade was put into limelight with „Ana.Digital“ by MEDIA APPARAT from Austria. The projection showed a dancer merged into the projection, to become a dream of historical memory particles.
In the city castle courtyard, „Liszt hitecture“ was projected by Video Mapping Hungary (Hungary). A journey of the
musician Franz Liszt from Hungary and a Hungarian artist group to Weimar was visually renarrated
and combined with a remix of Franz Liszt‘s music.
The main building of the Bauhaus University Weimar presented „Legacy“ by RDV Collectif (France): A triptych on the legacy of the Bauhaus heritage, a study and interpretation of the influences of the old over the new Bauhaus.
Beside the three shows the festival provided several other highlights. The Genius Loci Club in the Project and Design Workshop Gaswerk counted on Friday after the premiere show over 600 visitors, enjoying live video performances, honey-combshaped light installations and electronic music from DWIG + Deer (Weimar) and Mare Ateq (both Berlin). A VJ battle was fought out between Das Konglomerat (Weimar) and Lampenschirm (Vienna).
Beyond that the filmmaker and choreographer Daniel Belton (Good Company) from New Zealand presented
live on Saturday night a specially designed facade projection for the Bauhaus University Weimar.

Le collectif L:ED s'est associé aux membres de Osé (https://www.facebook.com/livesomethingnew?fref=ts) pour une performance live... et surtout totalement inattendue. A commencer pour ses interprètes.
Dans le cadre des portes ouvertes des ateliers d'artistes à Montreuil et grâce au collectif 80001, Exomène, Dorianne Wotton , Blandine Laignel et Alexis Ochin ont interprété la performance "Side by side".
Une performance totalement improvisée, puisqu'il s'agissait concrètement de la première rencontre de deux duos: Exomène et Dorianne pour la partie audio et Vidéo; Alexis Ochin et Blandine Laignel pour la partie "danse et expression corporelle". Deux duos, la fusion du digital et du corporel.
Cette performance mêle le réel et l’imaginaire par la mise en relation de deux performers et de leur image grâce à une captation live de la performance projetée sur l’espace où ils évoluent. Dorianne assure un mix vidéo en live, au rythme de la musique (toujours en live) d'Exomène .
Une expérience singulière donc, où nous avons laissé libre cours à notre créativité pour titiller votre imaginaire.

Une première au Zoo, précurseur des installations vidéos Mapping Festival, présente une scénographie totalement contrôlée par la vidéo: Led, light, son, laser, vidéo, le tout sound reactive! Tout est connecté, entrelacé. Pour gérer les manettes de cette installation unique et spéciale Zoo/Mapping, la crème de la crème de la scène locale VJs avec le crew des Sigma6 pour la lumière,Tarrabass MySquare pour les lasers ainsi que Yony et Bou pour les LEDs.
En matière de son vous serez également servis, avec une des rares femmes de la scène dubstep, Ikonika qui vient de sortir un nouvel EP Aerotropolis, considéré comme l'une des meilleures sorties de l'été 2013 par Résident Advisor et Tsugi. Une vague électro-pop psychédélique inspirée par la house et le latin freestyle va souffler dans vos oreilles comme un vent frais tout droit venu des 80′s! Ikonika ne sera bien entendu pas seule, puisque elle sera accompagnée des suisses Kackmusikkk et du newcomerSouth London Ordonnance. Largement défendue par Jamie xx notamment, la bass-music futuriste, progressiste, de ce londonien semble absolument tout ignorer du vintage ou de la nostalgie. Onion Skin is a new immersive installation by Olivier Ratsi, an artist on the ANTIVJ visual label.
The first stage in the Echolyse project, which will give birth to several variations around the same concept, Onion Skin is made up of a physical dimension – a module of two walls, positioned at right angles – augmented by a projection and a 5.1 sound broadcast.
Onion Skin is a graphical work about the re-composition of time and space through a game of perspectives, both of the exhibition space itself and that of the projection canvas. Built around a progressive structure, made up of 4 parts lasting 14 minutes in total, the piece plays on the principle of repetition and scale to create a physical and hypnotic experience that opens doors onto the hidden and untouchable.
The whole experience of the installation is based on a very specific point of view. A precise position from which a new dimension is revealed to the audience by anamorphosis. The simple geometric elements (“peelings”) that seemed to be flat at first suddenly start delimiting a new space. The illusion of a new dimension within the installation slowly appears as the onion skins seem to be leaving their physical surface behind.
A 5.1 surround sound set-up accentuates the physical dimension of the installation, strengthening and playing with the impression of volume and space.

"Egresus" (in Latin, "exit" or "out") is a video-mapping performance created for the Jerusalem Theater. This visual dance piece is about breaking out to freedom, a process not always easy or immediate, in the same way the facade sculpture erupts from it's cement wall.
Bringing a dance piece, normally taking place inside the halls of the theater to the outside crowd was also one of our main intentions with this work.
Shot in the Henry-Crown Theatre, Created and Directed by Yoav David and Yehonathan Porat and with original music by Dotan Moshanov.
We were greatly inspired by the work PAGAN by Romain Tardy and Squeeky Lobster, in it's dramaturgical rhythm and aesthetics. Some of our animations were created using the "mapping-toolkit" for vvvv, created by Joanie Lamercier (all of those Anti-VJ). Great thanks to them.

While interested in color perception and body movement, Azuray Swimwear and the gorgeous models who collaborated on the Colorbox performance at ArT=Mixx "Abstract", redirected my editing attention. Nevertheless, I hope you are able to appreciate the journey through complementary colors that is the foundation for this piece.
A grey circle appears as if a sphere when surrounded by the gradient background. We travel across the color wheel to the complement shifted by 15 degrees endlessly bouncing roughly to the corresponding color our eyes would find when fatigued. At the end, the blue circle disappears and, if you are intent enough, leaves you with an after image of yellow. Immediately prior to the circle disappearing, the gradient background animation is seeking the value (brightness) of the blue circle to attempt the illusion that the blue circle is shaded.
This was the third ArT=Mixx at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center and it was the first of three explosive ArT=Mixxes that we (artCOREmaui.com) co-produced.

The genius of Michelangelo was expressed throughout a mark, recognizable in all of his works. A line left by a pencil on a paper, a chisel stroke upon marble, a brush touch.
Vodafone paid homage to Rome with an extraordinary videomapping show on the façade of the Palazzo Senatorio in Campidoglio that highlighted the architecture that Michelangelo designed - thus unrevealing its elements by means of light, giving life to the various parts of the palace with a 3D animation, and providing a magnificent historical surface with a second technological animated skin.
The music, by Dj Alex Farolfi (Radio Deejay) blended with the images in a videomapping 3D live VJ set, in the splendid framework of the Fountain of Dea Roma.
Thanks to The Drop Vision (augmented reality applied on 3D projections), by D-Wok, the façade of the Palazzo Senatorio has “come to life” and narrated the beauties of the Italian capital city.

An experiment with Nodebox 2 to make a sound-reactive video installation. Nodebox 2 is a program for visualizing large sets of data. Instead, we made various different loops that would react to sound. It didn't work as well as it could have with another program, but it was a great learning experience.

Bouazizi is the second Insectotròpic's show, a work that combines a mix of live painting, veejing, live music and acting.
Following their version of the classic tale by Grimm and Perroult ‘La Caputxeta Galac- tica’ [Galactic Red Riding Hood] the Insectotròpics re-experiment with their unique ar- tistic language for ‘Bouazizi’ - a fusion of theatre, music and the visual arts. An on-going dialogue between technology and plasticity moves between pre-recording and live im- provisation, a mix between documentary and fiction, a world of dream and mythologi- cal dimensions which takes us to the unconventional corners of the common imagina- tion.
‘Bouazizi’, the man who everyone has heard of but who no one knows his name. In- sectotròpics present a poetic journey freely inspired by the life and death of Mohamed Bouazizi, a young street vendor, suffocated by mistreatment from police and economic hardship, who on 17 December 2010 publicly set himself alight. A totally unexpected event caused his gesture to create a legend for millions of people, igniting the “Arab Spring.”
‘Bouazizi’ is a story about the power of the people against The Power, about the degree of power an individual holds with respect to the system. A story that could be ours. Maybe it will be soon...

This is a Head shot of the Final Show Eye See Experience presented in the Francophonie 2013 with a GoPro Hero2. As you can see, on the ground there is another GoPro Hero3, which for some reason didn't record. And the recording of the GoPro Hero2, which you're watching from crashed in the last few seconds of this show. Never the less, this was the show.
On the Final, we decided to twist our show with the Different Music created by Kevork Keshishian (A.K.A. Diamond Setter), and the Visuals done to Ziad Filfili (3D Animator) and Moses Magharian (VJ). The Live Visual Performance was done by Moses Magharian (A.K.A. VJ Mosig).
We, Eye See Experience, were the Finalist from Lebanon along side France and Canada. And we got the Gold Medal in the Francophonie 2013.

Making Tracks XL was an evening of short films soundtracked live by The Cabinet of Living Cinema, and improvised video performances by myself, Emily Bailey, Luvmeat Visuals, and Max Hattler and Sune Petersen. Organised by Whirlygig Cinema, the event took place on 27 July 2013 at Rich Mix, London.
My performance mixed video loops with a live feed from a camera suspended over water, which was manipulated by light, ground pepper, and the vibrations caused by the band's music.

Munich's P1 Nightclub plays host to the latest collaboration between Dom Pérignon, Curator Leo Kuelbs and the Glowing Bulbs Creative Team. "Liquid Luminescence" is inspired by Dom Pérignon's Luminous Label and seeks to turn light into liquid. Over 100 clips were created and were mixed live by Glowing Bulbs VJs as MOSEY aka Pierre Sarkozy spinned. This fluid interplay between light and sound was projected on two massive walls above the terrace of Germany's most legendary Nightclub.
Selections of the one-night only live event from September 20th 2013 were replayed each night for 8 days, accompanying Munich's famed Oktoberfest bash.
Glowing Bulbs and Leo Kuelbs have also presented 2012's "Divine Coalescence" at the Bärensaal Berlin and 2013's "The Expanding Universe" for the release of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004.

Animated segment for a video mapping proyected on a building, made for the state of Chiapas in celebration of the patriotic month of September.
1st part is the 'Cucuracha' stylized in 8-Bit video games graphics. For the second half they wanted the whole wall covered in green and white eye candy stuff.
Some sound effects for the 8-Bit would have been nice.

AUDIO & SYNC – VEZÉR 1.1 RELEASED
Vezér is a relatively young software since it has been released this August, so I am super excited to announce the first major update of it, 1.1, which is focusing on Audio and Sync. So, as I said, Audio and Sync – the two territories you asked me a lot of questions about, and sent lot of feature requests, so I thought its worth to spend “some” sleepless nights to try to boost the capabilities of Vezér on those fields. Here are the results, let me tell you what is new in the latest and greatest update of Vezér – hope you guys will enjoying it 
MIDI Clock Sync
Now its possible to Sync a Composition to an external software – like Ableton Live – via MIDI Clock, leveraging the Song Position Pointer aka SPP. It requires only very minimal setup:

Audio Tracks – Playback and Convert-to-Keyframes
Vezér 1.1 introduces a new Track Type: Audio. So yes, now you can import audio files into Vezér and playback them on the specified audio output, but not just that: you can convert the audio data to Keyframes, even with filtering applied. You will find more information on this Knowledge Base article, but watch this little demonstration as well:

But there are much more gems in this new release – changelog – like Vezér now able to record incoming OSC as the same way as MIDI, it has a MIDI Clock output on its own, now you can collapse Tracks, optimised drawing performance and important bug fixes,etc… and it rocks!
