«This performance became a reflection of our joint inspirations and themes in art and life in general, reflections that turned out to be so numerous that we wanted to join them together in a common universe and use them to construct our performance.

Für jede Fassade wird jeweils ein Gewinnerbeitrag gekürt, den die Künstler*innen zum Festival Ende November 2020 (der genaue Termin ist in Abstimmung, nähere Informationen folgen)uraufführen werden. Durch den international ausgeschriebenen Wettbewerb bietet das Genius Loci Weimar Festival eine Bestandsaufnahme aktueller Videomapping-Produktionen weltweit. Als Treffpunkt der internationalen Videomapping-Szene lockt das Festival Kulturinteressierte und Fachpublikum aus den Bereichen Architektur, Medienkunst, Design, Performing Arts und Bildende Künste nach Weimar. Mit inzwischen fast 50.000 Besucher*innen zählt das Festival zu den Highlights des Weimarer Sommers.
Genius Loci Weimar findet in Kooperation mit der Festivalorganisation MXPerience gUG statt. The Festival
Genius Loci Weimar is an annual festival for site-specific audiovisual art, especially façade, space and object projections. The festival combines the historical spirit of Weimar and the contemporary technique of video mapping, a projection technique that incorporates the object into the image design, giving objects multi-layered dimensions and audiovisual narratives.
Through the international competition, the Genius Loci Weimar Festival offers an inventory of current video mapping productions worldwide. As a meeting place for the international video mapping scene, the festival attracts culturally interested audiences from the fields of architecture, media art, design, performing arts and fine arts to Weimar. With almost 50,000 visitors, the festival is one of the highlights of the Weimar Summer.
Genius Loci Weimar takes place in cooperation with the festival organisation MXPerience gUG. The festival is also supported by the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society, the City of Weimar, the Sparkasse Central Thuringia, the Weimarer Wohnstätte GmbH, the Best Western Premier Grand Hotel Russischer Hof, Logando and rebeam.

Final Film, What I miss since COVID.

This short film is a representation of what I miss the most since lockdown. I miss being a part of the Brighton regulars at the nightclub Volks, I felt a real sense of community there and that I belonged. I have a lot of footage from one night there last year that I was going to use for another project originally and looking back at it now is almost quite moving in some way or another. I have also shot some footage of me dancing alone in a park wearing a camo boiler suit and orange face mask as both a safety precaution for Corona and a joke, because I have based my look on 90's hardcore duo Altern-8. It is a sort of character I have come up with, a mysterious figure who just dances during this dark and difficult time. A well as the many strobes in Volks, I have included some filters and short loops within this video from two different collections. The loops that are yellow + red are from an archive folder of Altern-8's VJ loops that I just stumpled upon, online. Whilst the other filters are from an online collection I bought from a designer called Steve Mcfarlane. These VHS style filters and loops go hand in hand with the 90's aesthetic of my clothes and the colours and glitchy patterns blend in really well with the Volks lighting systems. Again, the choice of music I have chosen is very significant to me, it's from a guy called DJ Animebby and I asked him myself if I could use it for a project at some point awhile back on Facebook and he let me, you can interpret the song in two ways; on the one hand it was very sweet and reflects my love of that culture and the people within it. But it also sounds kinda eerie and haunting in a way with a pandemic on at the moment. I realise that this video is very short and doesn't get much of my theme/narrative across, I plan to continue editing this film and keep playing with it, because although it is a bit rushed I really like it and I think it represents me as an artist/person very sincerely.

Wystawa overwrite:\underread nawiązuje do historii budynku, w którym niegdyś mieściła się Biblioteka Raczyńskich oraz zadaje pytanie o pamięć w obliczu nadmiaru informacji, które codziennie do nas docierają. Jak wiele z nich potrafimy przetworzyć? Ile odrzucamy i co zachowujemy? Nasze umysły muszą stale przyswajać nowe dane, podejmować kolejne decyzje i wykonywać ogromną pracę oddzielając fakty od fikcji. Budynek po dawnej bibliotece mieścił w sobie ogrom informacji, stanowił swoistą bazę danych, która w pewnym momencie została przeniesiona, a system, który pozostał od dawna nie był aktualizowany. Poprzez wystawę overwrite:\underread dokonuje się swoiste nadpisanie pliku. Twórcy przepisują historię tego miejsca w subiektywny sposób, jednocześnie otwierając je na nowych użytkowników.
Wystawa stworzona jest przez studentki i studentów kierunku Media Interaktywne i Widowiska pod opieką merytoryczną dr Patryka Lichoty i drJakuba Alejskiego. W trakcie wystawy zaprezentują się również zaproszeni goście.

Sena Oh is a visual artist from Berlin, active in animation, drawing, video-art as well as graphic design and multimedia pieces. You might recognise her unique style as she often designs motion graphic for electronic music acts.
Nazira
Nazira is an indelible piece of the New East movement -- a shining example of post-Soviet experiential experimentation within the wondrous electronic underground that nests comfortably in Almaty. She appeared on the radar in 2016 through her Unsound: Dislocation sets in Bishek and Dushanbe and shortly thereafter debuted at the main festival in Krakow. From them on, Nazira began to draw attention from supporters worldwide through her adaptable approach to DJing, her sets delivering emotive and expansive narratives with sounds and selections that are as unique as consistently memorable. She has been featured in Mixmag, Pitchfork and Resident Advisor. (Words by Odd Fantastic) Nazira runs ZVUK parties in her hometown Almaty, hosts shows on Radio Cómeme and is a resident of Room 4 Resistance in Berlin.

The Balance Club / Culture Festival would have taken place in various clubs, concert venues and off-locations in Leipzig from 20–24 May. With over 30 acts and as many individual events, the interdisciplinary festival would have been a place for collective joy and reflection. Um novo vírus apareceu e foi necessário fazer um isolamento social no mundo inteiro para salvar vidas. Ao mesmo tempo que o objetivo desse isolamento é pensando no coletivo, o individual também é afetado. Em suas residências, as pessoas estão tendo um tempo mais calmo da correria que o dia-a-dia dos empregos lhe exigia e isso fez que começassem a olhar para si, para dentro da sua própria vida sem o trabalho como um impedimento. Isso está tendo resultados diversos: pessoas aprendendo habilidades novas, conhecimentos novos, receitas novas, exercícios novos, afinidades novas, entre outros. Em cada casa está se criando novas histórias com possibilidades gigantes.
Esse projeto visa simular janelas de residências nas paredes da cidade. Cada vez que uma janela abre uma realidade diferente é mostrada revelando um ‘assunto’ diferente que as pessoas podem estar desenvolvendo em seu individualismo. Desde exercícios como Yoga até pensamentos e estudos sobre o universo. Isso tudo colabora para desenvolvimento de cada um com conhecimentos que podem ser levados futuramente para toda a sociedade onde se desenvolverá a realidade da janela maior que engloba todos.
