Tools and workflow:

The music and control are made on an ipad: synth on Oscillator, drums on DM1. Both are sent to Turnado multi-effect throuhg Audiobus, and them to ouput, wired to the computer.
Turnado has four X/Y pads to manage 8 different effects for the audio, but at the same time they send midi signals to the computer via wifi.

The vídeo is made on Quartz Composer. There are two almost alike vídeos transformed by the "v002 Glicth analog" patch ( http://v002.info/plugins/v002-glitch ), the "datamosh/bangnoise" patch ( http://kriss.cx/tom/datamosh ) and a pixelate filter. There is also a "midi controller receiver" so all the parameters of those nodes are controlled live via midi from the Turnado X/Y pads.

For record purpose the image is sent vía Syphon to "Syphon Recorder" witch takes the audio from the line in.

On Performance:

An interesting point here is that being music and video controlled at the same time, your movements are guided by both, and if what you are doing is cool for the audio but not for the the vídeo you have to move on, and vice versa.
The same way if you want to do a certain thing for the video it will affect the audio and the other way back. So all the time is finding a balance between music and video, knowing that any movement will affect both inevitably.

The seventeenth edition of LPM LPM - Live Performers Meeting begins on May 12 in Amsterdam, in the spaces of Tolhuistuin, in the renewed and vibrant district of Amsterdam-Noord and will be the first of a cicle which foresees the production of two more editions in the next two years in the dutch capital.

LPM offers the unique opportunity to experience 3 days of audiovisual performances, VJing, workshops, panel discussion, product showcases presented by VJs, audiovisual artists, new media professionals and thinkers from all around the world.

The Meeting aims also to promote transnational movement and exchange of ideas, artworks and artists. That’s why all funds recovered by LPM areINVESTED

to support innovative research and experimentation in the field of live visuals with the latest technologies.

The program foresees the participation of 326 artists, professionals and video passionate from 39 countries presenting 157 projects who will offer an unrepeatable and unique event.

It's a very sensual show with some dancers and actors.

Filming using green screen, the show is live mixing, using alpha Chanel videos. This way allowed to create always an unique show.

We based our projections appropriately to fit the layout of the stage. The projectıon mapping supports the DJ’s performance by enhancing the chart music and the target audiences’ experience.The middle projection is a bit smaller than the sides because of the position of the DJ booth. We turned this disadvantage into an advantage. On this projectıon, we mainly project the Lollipop logo to promote Lollipop Night. We created 4 packages containing 5 clips each. Each package is unique to its creator but similar in style and mood. One of the packages contains a set of logos that are appropriate and fit lollipops character and theme.We create our own logo as well. We changed the fond, however, we didn’t want to change it that much so it wouldn’t be un-recognisable. We adjusted it a bit in a playful way to make it fit into our style.
We created two other packages, which are contained colour powder dance performance. We chose the colour powder because it is getting more popular. We think following trends closely would aid us to gain an advantage with the audience. The reason why we chose for a dance performance ıs that it is obviously a nightclub. We think it would create a chance for the audıence to identify with events.
Last and final package contains footages with drawings. We thought drawing some footage conveys more energetic atmosphere. We also drew some classic items from the 90s to make the experience more personal and nostalgic like Gameboy, Yoyo, and cassette recorder.

The Video: Excerpt of the visual improvisation by Kiritan Flux and Tlalit Segal Raayoni for a special concert event. The used material consisted only of macrovideography of the stage and instruments of the musicians shot during the rehearsals the day before by Tlalit. This base material was modified and mixed live by Flux and masked with music inspired live drawings by Tlalit (made with Alchemy).

The Event: The world of contemporary music celebrated the 90th birthday of Hungarian composer György Kurtág. Interpreting this influential oeuvre of contemporary classical music, CHB dedicated a special event to Kurtág on 8 March 2016, presenting two concerts. One of them was a live concert of The Spontaneous Arkestra led by the legendary fusion musician, composer and conceptualist Jean-Paul Bourelly through the use of Conduction to command the orchestra and reflect on Kurtág’s works. By its nature, Conduction method liberates both conductor and musicians from the traditional boundaries of musical rules, habits and conventions, making the collaboration more spontaneous and surprising the audience with unexpected turns.

‘Project X’ is an ambient/reactive video performance by Jeremy D. Slater, a.k.a.. ( ) and was first performed at Odetta Gallery in Brooklyn, New York on August 20, 2015 in collaboration with VJ Doctor Mojo. The title of the piece is derived from the title of the sculpture, ‘X Never Marks the Spot’ by Thomas Lendvai that was the projection surface for the performance.

‘Project X’ was performed in the gallery as an improvised performance with live music and video. Slater provided the video content and performed music live with MIDI guitar and sequencing on a laptop and VJ Doctor Mojo mixed the video live and set up the video projection mapping on the sculpture.

Notes and chords on the guitar were assigned to video clips so that the video would react to the live performance. This reactive video system is the basis of this work in progress and is a further exploration in my interest in video as an instrument.

Marangvla (born in Asturias/Spain) started his work as a realtime performance visual artist in the early VJ scene in Dublin.
