Phenakistoscope was an early animation device that used a spinning disk of sequential images and the persistence of vision principle to create an illusion of motion. Original phenakistoscope discs had slits cut into them and had to be viewed using a mirror. Phenakistomixer appropriates this by precisely synchronising disc rotation with the shutter of a video camera to achieve similar effect, and is used as a live visual performative tool. Tool for mixing GIF like looped animations.
Version 2.0 of Phenakistomixer project takes the turntable video-mixing idea further by introduction of on-plate layering with transparent foils. Let’s spin the discs and have a PHENAKISTOMIX!

Nonlinear systems can be explained but not predicted, they possess amplifying feedback loops, though there are no stochastic perturbations, there are unpredictable behaviors exhibited in these systems.
Chaos Theory is the means to study the behavior of dynamic systems, different from static systems, dynamic systems are changing their own structure as time develops. A pure cybernetic system can be classified as a static system and are designed with all their component interactions predicted and calibrated during its architectural and manufacturing phase. Dynamic systems are systems that change, either from endogenous factors or exogenous factors. One mystery of modern scientific models is how to account for chaos inexplicably leading to greater regularity, or synchrony.
It is in the unfolding dynamics of a salt crystal, in the complexity of the human body and in the deep structures of how our universe was formed, fractal geometry and feedback is a long thread in a timeless cosmic history.

This sequence introduces a new feature that will be in the next upgrade of FreeForm Pro Version 1.75. All visuals were generated from stock video footage with FreeForm Pro plug-in applied, to transform footage into 3D cubes. Speedy rendering, quick previews, easy-to-use, very intuitive controls make this an indispensable tool for After Effects.
A great way to customize generic stock footage to generate sequences. The spacing, size, rotation and density of the cubes can be controlled, so that simple lines of shapes can appear, or a dense array. Video footage can be pulled apart as cubes, and other shapes, in 3D space. Several shapes available.

In the video, you can revive memories of the childhood of Santa Teresa from her birth until her entry to the convent of the Incarnation. Dynamic forces a site specific sound reactive installation for the emergency exit corridor at OHM club (Berlin)
It consist in a visualization of the sound coming from the dj mixer, where each paper strip distriuted in the space is iluminated with geometric forms that move in horizontal and vertical: some in the same direction, some are oposite forces, diverse inertia factors, contrasted dynamics...
The result can be observed through an eye hole of a closed door. The size of this hole has been interventioned to make it very small. So, the viewer/voyeur has to move slighly to explore the proyection space.
The aim is to create a visualization of music with different audio responses in terms of dynamic forces.

A simple shader animation to use as background visuals. It was done in Cinema 4D.
I wanted to create something that starts very simple and the transform into an adventure but very minimalistic and some what elegant. As I am not a designer or animator I started with a shape.
If you have a proyector just spread the image all over the place, or if you have multiple screens. It will create a very nice atmosphere.

Celebrating that anniversary with a one-off at a suitably cosmic venue, perennial tastemaker Gilles Peterson joins Smith for a conversation on the sofa before a special performance involving live-visuals from Limbic Cinema.
Expect tales from Smith about the modern jazz movement, his experiences with Sun Ra in the 60s, the afrofuturist movement and more, infused with Peterson's aficionado knowledge of the scene, before Smith performs with a full live band accompanied by Peterson on the decks.

This is an extract from 'Possible Worlds': an immersive video project created for 360 / fulldome environment.
This video is a screen recording of myself exploring liquids at "Zero Gravity" in an application made by The Society for Arts and Technology. 'SATDomePort' is a software that allows you to experience your full dome content in real time.
