Urban Projections : Stratum - Splice Festival 2017

Urban Projections : Stratum - Splice Festival 2017 from Splice Festival on Vimeo.

Urban Projections is the work of multimedia artist Rebecca Smith. Fusing hand-crafted art-forms with digital technologies, her work seeks to surprise and engage audiences with its playful tone and interactivity. She creates unique digital experiences, constantly looking for ways to push the boundaries of her discipline. Her work has been presented in such prestigious surroundings as The Saatchi Gallery, The Royal Albert Hall, Tate St Ives and arts centre Nottingham Contemporary. As Smith would state though, her work is equally at home on the streets and in unusual outdoor locations.

Stratum, their live performance at Splice Festival, is a collaboration with audio producer Jimmy Power. Described as ‘an exploration of landscape and mans effect on it’, this project is a sharp journey into geometric abstraction. Utilising kinetic colour spectrums with bold white light, it places naturalistic elements with hyper-real digital glitches, fusing them with a soundtrack of environmental recordings and electronic beats. It’s a driven and bold live show.
