Geollusion from Duncan Leigh Productions on Vimeo.
An experimental piece creating a vortex like sense of rippling, unnerving depth.
Beginning with a simple geometric pattern, I took this image and layered multiple times, carefully timing the animation of the rotations to create the ripple and pulse required to create the illusion of depth. Stacked layers also variously acted as luma mattes for subsequent versions of the image, allowing for untold complexity to emerge from the interactions of layers, despite the project being streamlined in design.
The piece also loops; here it is looped three times, however it would be interesting to see a single loop of the clip being looped manually by an experienced VJ to contribute to a live installation or stage visual.
