Participez à notre atelier de 5 jours « Démystifier l'Æther » sur l’exploration des ondes électromagnétiques. En partant de l'infrastructure visible, l'artiste médiatique Félicien Goguey et l'artiste sonore Matthias Hurtl introduiront les participants·x·tes à la notion d'espace hertzien et aux activités qui s'y déroulent (radiodiffusion, téléphonie, aérospatiale, militaire, commerce, surveillance...). Ensemble, ils démystifieront les signaux radio et autres ondes électromagnétiques qui remplissent l'Æther [1].
Après avoir été initié·e·s au matériel dédié et à la radio logicielle, les participants·x·es acquièrent par elleux-mêmes des signaux radio de différentes bandes de fréquences - non seulement comme matière première pour le son et l'image - mais aussi pour explorer et comprendre la dimension sociopolitique de cet espace d'un point de vue citoyen. Ce faisant, les participants·x·es plongent dans les récits des signaux invisibles qui nous entourent et qui illustrent les attributs expansifs, systémiques et géologiques de la technosphère.

Participate in our 5-days workshop « Demystifying the Æther » about exploring electromagnetic waves.
By taking the visible infrastructure as a starting point, media artist Félicien Goguey and sound artist Matthias Hurtl will introduce the participants to the notion of hertzian space and to the activities conducted within (broadcasting, telephony, aerospace, military, trading, surveillance…). Together they will demystify radio signals and other electromagnetic waves that fill the Æther [1].
After being introduced to dedicated hardware and Software Defined Radio, participants will aquire radio signals from different frequency bands on their own – not only as a raw material for sound and image – but also to explore and understand the socio-political dimension of this space from a citizen perspective. By doing so, participants delve into the narratives of the invisible signals around us that illustrate the expansive, systemic, and geological attributes of the Technosphere.
