ANGLES is a VJ installation created in one week in October 2012.
This video aims to show the whole process of creation from the early sketches to the final gig. We designed the installation mostly with the constraint of the material and our low budget. We made it simple by just using A1 sheets of foamcore. This lead to the creation of very interesting patterns.
For the mapping, we used Resolume Arena 4 which provides a flexible interface with layering and masking that helped us to manage the different shadows and overlapping in the projection.
The content is mostly made out of PNGs with colors, brightness, effects connected to dynamic inputs (sound, beat, timelines) directly in Resolume. A vvvv patch takes the sound as an input and shoots some treated info to Resolume through OSC to make clever audioreactive content.
Some animation patterns were created in vvvv too.

ALGUNA VEZ UN SONIDO TE RECORDO UNA FORMA, UN COLOR O UN SABOR?
El término sinestesia surge de la fusión de dos palabras del griego cuyos significados son “junto” y “sensación”.
Es una condición dada en muy pocas personas que consiste en mezclar sensaciones percibidas por órganos sensoriales distintos. Es asi como la persona sinestésica tiene la capacidad de escuchar un color, observar la música, o percibir sensaciones gustativas al tocar un objeto con una textura determinada.
Comunmente cuando describen su experiencia, hablan de formas visuales en “una pantalla” situada delante de su cara.
A través del uso de nuevas tecnologías, buscamos acercarte a una experiencia sinestésica del tipo auditivo-visual.
Utilizando cuadrados de colores, una cámara, un desarrollo de programación y un proyector, se propone que el participante arme una secuencia de colores a gusto, para luego poder “escucharla” y verla transformada en nuevas imágenes disparadas a partir de su creación.
FUNCIONAMIENTO:
Se presenta al usuario una serie de cuadrados de colores.
La consigna es armar una secuencia eligiendo hasta 4 de ellos, y ubicarla en linea sobre el panel frente a la cámara.
La cámara envia la imágen a la notebook, donde a través de un desarrollo de programación en “vvvv¨se identifica la secuencia de colores expuesta.
Cada color identificado lleva consigo una serie de información única y característica que se divide en:
SONORA:
Una secuencia musical.
VISUAL:
Un clip de video animado.
Es así como la serie de 4 colores escogida por el usuario combinará 4 secuencias sonoras y 4 clips visuales que se mezclan en tiempo real.

The laptop is outputting to a VGA splitter that splits to a monitor so the performance knows what's happening , and the projector behind them.
Another computer running SoftKinetic's IISU and the SoftKinetic middleware for skeleton data.
A router to send the skeleton data over OSC to the MacBook Pro.

This video is a visuals performance created for a halloween party using scenes clipped from various horror movies. all of the video is mixed live with effects applied and responding to the party music. the VJ software i am using is VDMX with some plugins made with quartz composer. VDMX is being controlled with an iPad over wifi with a custom touchosc layout. the visuals are being outputted into 2 projectors via VGA and then one is flipped horizontally. leave any questions you have in the comments.

NIÑOVIEJO invito el dia 17 de Junio de 2011 a decenas de personas a participar en un video-graffiti colectivo.
El evento estubo abierto a personas de todas las edades.
El proyecto formp parte de las actividades del Festival Incubarte y consiste en la creación colectiva de una pintada reivindicativa de caracter efimero sobre un edificio de grandes dimensiones.
En este caso la fachada de la escuela de diseño que se encuentra en la Plaza de Viriato (EASD).
Esta acción no dañó el edificio ya que se trata de una video proyección de grandes dimensiones. Para realizar las pintadas o mensajes utilizamos una herramienta digital llamada Tagtool.
Tagtool es un instrumento visual de performance, utilizado tanto en la calle como en escenarios . Con él es posible dibujar con luz en el espacio, por lo que sirve como herramienta de creacion de video en tiempo real, siendo además una manera intuitiva y sencilla de crear animaciones.
El sistema se usa entre dos personas: uno encargado de dibujar las imágenes a proyectar, otro encargado de animar las diferentes capas que el dibujante va generando por medio de un gamepad.

LEITMOTIV DE LA PROPUESTA
La pintada callejera más antigua que he visto jamás esta en las ruinas de Pompeya. El texto escrito en latín decía - Perarius es un ladrón – Lo sé porque una placa más abajo ofrecía la traducción. Así como una explicación de que aquel muro era parte de las dependencias municipales. Descubrí que alrededor había decenas. Filosóficas, políticas, sexuales.
Me impresiono el pensar como el mensaje espontáneo de personas anónimas, llegaba a mi través del tiempo. El poder de la palabra escrita y el uso de la calle como soporte desvelaba todo su potencial.
Acerca de este pontecial del espacio urbano como medio de expresión gira nuestra propuesta TOMA LA PLAZA _ VIDEO-GRAFFITI COLECTIVO
Nosotros NiñoViejo nacimos como colectivo hace 3 años entorno a un proyecto de intervención en el espacio público muy a fin a este. Se llamaba ALMAS LATENTES y con el queríamos tratar temas como: la especulación inmobiliaria, la perdida del patrimonio histórico, la transformación urbanística de nuestro país. Siendo también una llamada de atención a cerca del control y el uso del espació público.
El streetart, y el arte público en general reivindica desde los ochenta el uso activo de los espacios llamados públicos. Actos como el graffiti o la pintura mural ponen a prueba los límites sobre el uso de estos espacios. Siendo estas formas de expresión individual ilegalizadas por numerosos gobiernos mientras campañas publicitarias de todo tipo invaden la calle a golpe de talonario.
Los hechos recientes como el movimiento 15M y el fenómeno acampada asamblearia vuelven a poner en jaque la limitaciones con las que el ciudadano de a pie se encuentra a la hora de hacer uso de espacio público como medio de expresión.
Sin embargo es positivo ver como lo que, desde hace décadas, se reivindicaba desde el arte se hace realidad. El uso de la calle como lugar de encuentro, comunicación de ideas y construcción del pensamiento propio.
Nuestra propuesta es por tanto generar una experiencia común a través de un evento artístico. Lo que Nicolas Bourriaud llamaria “Estética Relacional”, aquella en la que el arte se concibe determinado por las relaciones de los seres humanos.

The last section of the video, from later in the evening, features Elftrance monkeys dancing to some full-on psytrance.

Paganism (from Latin paganus, meaning "country dweller", "rustic") is a blanket term, typically used to refer to religious traditions which are polytheistic or indigenous. It is primarily used in a historical context, referring to Greco-Roman polytheism as well as the polytheistic traditions of Europe and North Africa before Christianization. [Wikipedia]
This installation, shown on the main facade of the Museum of archaeology of Toulouse, south of France, was inspired by a scultpure of a bacchanalian head from the 3rd century (see picture below). This sculpture had been found at the end of the 17th century and exhibited as an example of an antique pagan idol since then.
Using the idea of polymorphism that is a feature of the ancient gods, the head becomes almost invisible when integrated to the structure made of an abstract network of straight lines. The light will reveal several patterns, from abstract constellations to enigmatic symbols that will affect the rest of the building.
This work is a new collaboration with the musician Squeaky lobster.

Miko is a custom vj solution build to process images in real time within a simulation enviroment,
Every image is decomposed in to key elements and recreated using various fields of data.
The sampled pixel data is used to drive a fluid simulation, with image recognition layered on top. Custom vector maps are derived to let elements `search` each other. The results can be displayed using fields, particles , geometry and image data.
A midi device can be used to control parts of the simulation and application. Various controls can be mapped such as particle decay rate, feature selection, image selection, vector map selection, particle count etc. A bpm counter is included to sync images and triggers to a feed of music.
This demo was recorded live and ran at about 60-150 fps on a mid range desktop.

We wondered what would happen if you controlled some metaballs with a multitouch Magic Trackpad. Jamming experiment using Lazerdisk Party Sex (again), with some MPC pads and a fader for some additional parameter control. The question was can you play a trackpad like a musical instrument? The answer seems to be, "practice".
So basically this is "audio reactive" only because I tapped and moved my fingers on the trackpad with my left hand while occasionally fiddling a MIDI fader or pad with the right hand. Didn't use CoGe's audio analysis or BPM settings at all, just live jamming.

Conceived as a collective, "Invasion lab." is collaborative group of friends, full of energy, that creates things that we love. This time, we decided to create an intervention in the walls and spaces of Bogota City in Colombia. Inspired by the idea of "Invade the city," we projected classic icons of our childhood, like Space Invaders and Psychedelic Squirrels (the Banner & Flappy cartoon), running over the city walls. We also displayed iconic symbols expressing opposition to violence and social problems, created by renowned graffiti Colombian artist "JuegaSiempre" (PlayAlways).
We love the idea to create Audiovisual pieces to free our souls and have fun. Just because we like !

VJ op de Dom - Tordinaire
After 2011's edition of 'VJ op de Dom' z25 was asked to once more create a production for this event hosted in the centre of Utrecht, The Netherlands. As a sequel to Bilderraus, in this production the surroundings were also embraced by controlling all lighting and thus creating a complete emersive show.
All artists were asked to use the mythological story of the Tower of Babel combined with modern international politics as an inspirational theme. With the diverse content created by the artists a recurring constructing and imploding storyline is shown.

Miko is a custom vj solution build to process images in real time within a simulation enviroment,
Every image is decomposed in to key elements and recreated using various fields of data.
The sampled pixel data is used to drive a fluid simulation, with image recognition layered on top. Custom vector maps are derived to let elements `search` each other. The results can be displayed using fields, particles , geometry and image data.
A midi device can be used to control parts of the simulation and application. Various controls can be mapped such as particle decay rate, feature selection, image selection, vector map selection, particle count etc. A bpm counter is included to sync images and triggers to a feed of music.
This demo was recorded live and ran at about 60-150 fps on a mid range desktop.

I have another program that it analyzing FFT on the Audio-In line and sending the average data over OSC. The point cloud reacts to the music and also exports to Syphon where I could plug it into any number of other applications like Resolume Avenue or Mad Mapper.
