IM/pulse is an interactive light sculpture that utilizes projection mapping technology to communicate the metaphor: the Internet and World Wide Web is humanity’s pulse. Interaction with a rhythmic digital collage invites the viewer to contemplate the psychological concept of projection and it’s associated concepts of false consensus and pluralistic ignorance as contributing factors to the development of a collective consciousness. Reflecting on the metaphor, the viewer will encounter signifiers that will facilitate engagement in philosophical discourses on the Gaze as well as homage to the flicker and loop of the zoetrope.
