Club Velvet - Kunstnacht Den Bosch 2015 - Montage from True Form on Vimeo.
We were asked to do a projection mapping on a temporary bar for Kunstnacht Den Bosch (which translates to Artnight) .
The theme was Club Velvet, which got its inspiration from the David Lynch series and film Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet.
The bar was shaped like a pyramid with a rectangular front half. We had to map all sides. So with 7 beamers and 3 computers we set up our mapping.
Our projection mapping was inspired by film noir. On the front of the bar told the tale of a voyeur who is looking for a new victim in the crowd. The longer he searches the crowd the more his mind goes crazy.
On the side of the bar we showed a short animation that was connected with the front mapping, but could also stand on its own. It showed a tale of unreachability.
We also made abstract graphic animations and projected them on the top part of the bar. The abstract graphics represent the thoughts of the voyeur.
In combination with sound artists and other installations in the room we filled a 15 minute program which we repeated every half hour.
Every performance had a different feel, because the sound of the DJ and the visuals we VJ-ed was improvised every time.
Very cool that we were mentioned in a local newspaper Brabants Dagblad: “De discobar was een schansachtige constructie waarop fraaie films werden geprojecteerd via videomapping, afkomstig van het Bossche kunstenaarsduo True Form.”
