Datamosh

Poledance + Datamosh Experiment from Hfour on Vimeo.
I used some footage from my friend Lu's poledance show last year in Tokyo to experiment with datamoshing. I did it the hard way, by encoding each segment with only a first i-frame (keyframe), and then proceeded to remove them too with a different piece of software. I learned about some technicalities of encoding with h264 and avi file formats, which may end up being useful some time in the future.
All the software for osx can be found (for free too) at:

Thanks to the datamosher tutorial vids:

Apparently there's an easy way, an now that I 'understand the principle, I'll try it in AfterEffects.

Learn how to Datamosh all by yourself! All it takes is a couple programs, a couple hours, and a couple tabs of acid.
The necessary programs (FFmpegX and Avidemux) are both included in the convenient ONE-STOP DATAMOSH KIT, which can be found at:
http://www.court13.com/datamoshkit.zip
Also included in the ONE-STOP DATAMOSH KIT are our preferred presets for FFmpegX, and several components needed to install the program.
NOTE TO PC USERS: Instead of FFmpegX, you can use VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org). I've never used it, but I hear it's the bee's knees!

The Datamoshing adventure continues! In this section, we cover basic datamoshing etiquette, and the repercussions of datamoshing in a post-Lacanian society.
The programs covered in this section are included in the ONE-STOP DATAMOSH KIT, which can be found at:
http://www.court13.com/datamoshkit.zip
NOTE TO PC USERS: Instead of FFmpegX, try VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/). It's not exactly the same, but what is?

The final chapter in the HOW TO DATAMOSH trilogy. Who will win in the end, Arnold or the Pandas??
Once again, the link for the ONE-STOP DATAMOSH KIT:

NOTE TO PC USERS: FFmpegX is no good for you, so get your hands on VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/), which should do the same shit. So get datamoshin!
