LPM 2016 Amsterdam

here you are a preview of the workshops in program at LPM 2016 Amsterdam. The meeting begins on May 12, 2016 in the spaces of TolhuistuinLearning activities will take place in the dedicated classrooms every day starting from 15.00. Read carefully the requirements to attend the classes, choose your activity and register!

Workshops are dedicated to learning and sharing, drawing upon the themes of free and open biophysical technologycreation of interfaces with the basics of Processing environment, discovering the trick and tips of timelapses, a Fulldome VJ Master class and a Resolume bootcamp, the software of choice for visual professionals worldwide.

XTH Sense – BioCreative Interaction | Marco Donnarumma [DE]

The XTH Sense is an award-winning, free and open biophysical technology. During this hands-on workshop participants build manually from scratch their own low cost, biophysical muscle sounds sensor, and experience an intensive training on bodily performance of music, live video and other media. 

PLEASE NOTE: The kit of necessary electronic components will be provided by the teacher and it costs only 20 euro to pay at the beginning of the workshop. This price is not included in the entry fee to pay to LPM organization.

Bits+Atoms – Tangible interfaces for exhibitions and events panGenerator [PL]

During the workshop attendees are going to learn basics of Processing environment and the means to connect it to the real world – gathering data from the sensors and controlling basic electronics.

PLEASE NOTE: Participants should bring their own laptop with processing downloaded and unzipped (https://processing.org/download/) and an Arduino with usb a-b cable. Minimum requirement is Arduino UNO (https://www.floris.cc/shop/en/arduino-boards/8-arduino-uno.html)

PREPARATORY FREE WORKSHOP:
Processing: Beginner’s guide to creative coding Eross [DE]
May 12 | 15:00 – 18:00 | Classroom 4
This workshop introduces the basic concepts of coding, to afterwards focus on the creative possibilities of processing. After this workshop , each participant will have created an own small sketch, and understands how to modify other code examples. No previous knowledge in programming is required.

Fulldome VJ Master Class | VJ Zaz UnitedVjs [BR]

In this masterclass, the students are introduced to basic and professional fulldome and live performance workflows, its content production and mapping techniques. It includes all necessary aspects to create, map and perform fulldome VJ sets.


Resolume Bootcamp | Resolume [NL]
May 12 -14 | 18:00 – 21:00 | Classroom 2

There will be 3 workshops, spread over 3 days. Each workshop can be visited separately since they cover different subjects.
Day 1: live performing. How to turn your set into a powerful instrument that will enable you to play and have fun on stage.
Day 2: Projection mapping. This will be a very hands-on day. You will learn the basics on projection mapping with Resolume and have the opportunity to ask and try more advanced things. Feel free to bring your own projectable objects!
Day 3: It’s up to you! We will start the workshop with collecting questions and topics you have. By voting, you will decide the subjects for this workshop.

Timelapse techniques for HD VJ footage production Kyle Lyons VJLoops.com [ES]

Have you ever wondered how timelapses are created? Would you like to know the tips & tricks used by the pros? Learn the basics of shooting your very first timelapse progressing to more advanced techniques like Hyperlapses (moving timelapse) and the Holy Grail technique (day to night).

PLEASE NOTE: Suggested items for students to bring. Camera DSLR preferred, or camera with timelapse function. Tripod. Intervalometer (available for 10-15 euros on Ebay) Make sure model is compatible with your camera. Memory cards capable of holding 100’s of high quality photos or RAW images. (Minimum 16GB recommended). Fully charged batteries. Clothing suitable for the weather (we will be outside for extended periods of time)
