Brazilian artist illuminates the city of Amsterdam
During the months of December and January, the European winter was more colorful
thanks to Amsterdam Light Festival, festival of lights spreading around town
Dutch more than 70 works by artists from around the world. Among the selected
for the exhibition is the visual artist Leandro Mendes - VJ Vigas
which displayed his project "Floating Bridge" (Floating Bridge) one of the main
channels that make up the city.
"With a deep relationship with the life of the city, the bridges of Amsterdam has a very important role in the history and life of the people living and visiting. More than connecting people, are like bridges that connect neurons in a nervous system transmitting the power to the pulse of the city. Floating Bridge is a work that uses the typical design of local architecture of its bridges to create a light piece of ephemeral based on the shape of concentric arcs of canals around the city. "
Formed by 21 arches, with the largest being 4.65 meters tall, the facility has
a total of 16 meters long, allowing the famous tour boats
crossing structure providing a unique experience to visitors.
The project designed by Vigas, had the collaboration of the collective 28.room of São Paulo to create a viable technical solution for its realization. It took 10 days to assemble and a great team that worked on a floating structure Oosterdok dock where the facility was built and subsequently towed to its final location.
By the end of the festival, more than 700 thousand visitors toured the Water Collors, route of the tour boats to view the art installations.
